I’m excited for next year and this offseason to see what other pieces we can add. Heard some positive things today, and I know a couple guys on the team are ready to get to work to shock people next year. They’re buying into the process and I’m hoping it works out. Hopefully we can get a couple transfers in and flip a commitment or two to keep the rebuild going this offseason.

Spencer Lee is such a likable kid.... so unlike Iowa wrestlers. I bet it bothers Brands how much Lee respects and likes his opponents versus hating their guts like Brands wants them to.

Not exactly sure.

We were a fairly young team. Fundamentals seemed to improve, not flashy things like hitting big moves but not getting rode like a mule everytime, finishing the whole period and scoring at the end and not being scored on, conditioning, taking shots. Now we need to finish the shots and have everyone work hard to make the improvement.

Cael changed the recruiting process with his teams at Penn state. Spend about half your schollys on nearly full ride blue chips that will be finalist (no guarantee, but who you believe consistently will) and then use the rest to fill out the roster and get a few walk ons that will hole fill some. I don't know what route we are going. It would make sense to go the old Iowa style of spreading them out to build a base to get to a top ten team and then going all in, otherwise its hard to convince a kid to show up with our current situation.

If David Carr is on a similar level as Spencer Lee was halfway through this year, I hope they pull the damn redshirt. No reason to have a kid at that level sit out a whole year. I do love watching Lee wrestle. Him and Suriano should be a great match.

I honestly don't think they will pull his shirt.

Final team scores aren't settled yet but baring something very unusual happening ISU will finish with 3 points in a three way tie for 45th along with Utah Valley and Rider.

Tons to teams got points deducted for coaches out of coaching area. Fair amount for misconduct also

Did Stoll get dinged another team point for Iowa?

Posters on The Mat's forums said he threw his ankle bands at his opponent after getting pinned and then refused to shake hands.

Agree with others in this thread about Spencer Lee. Carries himself with confidence but not in a cocky way and is respectful of his opponent. And has the talent to back up his confidence. Well-spoken in interviews. Just seems like a good dude, other than the whole being a Hawkeye thing.

Another Lee fan here. Felt weird about it at first but the kid hasn't given me a reason to not like him. I can't stand the brands bros but enjoy watching a lot of their guys wrestle. Glynn is the only one on my **** list at this point.

I like watching Lee wrestle. I am not a huge fan of Marinelli or Stoll. Both of them could lose every match and id be very happy

The "not shaking hands" (if it occurred) is an old Brands trick. I saw Terry refuse to shake with an Iranian wrestler who beat him in Des Moines a number of years ago.

That isn't the only way PSU changed recruiting. It isn't even the biggest way they "changed" it.

Even as good as he is and will be, he's not Spencer Lee.

Same, I don't cheer for Lee because he's a Hawkeye, but he hasn't given me any reason to actively cheer against him like a lot of Hawkeyes over the years, including those two.

Like last year, I would have preferred that they wouldn't have had a champion. But I was a whole lot less annoyed by it being Clark than Gilman. This year we came really close to them not having a finalist, which would have been great. But if they had to have one it might as well be Lee.

Did anyone see what happened at the end of the Desanto/Micic match? Sounds like Desanto pulled some inexcusable crap and basically tried breaking Micic's arm. Desanto looked like he was trying to drop Mueller from VA on his head repeatedly at the end of a loss earlier in the year. Like watching that kid wrestle and pulled for him all year but there's no room for that type of bs.
