    Samardzija had a 2.28 ERA and threw 25 strikeouts in 27 innings. He looked pretty darn good in the majors. I'm not sure more time in Iowa is really what he needs.

    I think Stoops would be a decent fit. It's not all that sexy, but he's had solid head coaching experience in a major conference, he has had some success, and he has Midwest ties. It seems to me he has had his "on the job" experience at Arizona and will be ready to bring it full speed here...
