if OSU does end up losing can you really say they deserve to be in then? it would be Oregon as a conference champion, Wisconsin as a conference champion both with 2 losses vs OSU as a non CC with a loss then. will see what the Committee decides is important.

Imo a 1 loss non champion is still superior to a 2 loss champ because every game should matter.

Bama didn't beat a rated team this year.

If 8 hammers 1 is it that unthinkable they'd jump a 5 that squeaked by 6?

so your saying losing the conference championship shouldn't matter, but then yet every game matters? then what is the point in playing it if losing doesn't matter?

It matters, but losing two regular season games is worse than the champ game being your only loss.

I think if Wisconsin blows out Ohio State (say 42-7 or 49-7) I think they have a good argument to get into the playoff. But if they win in a closer game I don't really have a problem with Ohio State going this year

Making sure that Ohio State gets in. That precedent was set in 2016, when the "13th data point" and "conference championship" criteria that were so important in 2014 and 2015 suddenly no longer applied.
Playoff committee is a big joke. Only name tags and $$$ matter to them.

If OSU loses, I’m guessing the CFP will look like this:
1) LSU
2) Clemson
3) OU
4) OSU

I’m fairly confident in saying no 2 loss team will make it in, especially if one of those losses is to Illinois or South Carolina.

it is the E$PN invite really after all...

I'm in the camp that a two loss team can't get in if there's one loss teams no matter the conference title game. OU got to do this in 2003 when KSU jumped on them in KC. 'Bama didn't even get into the conference title game in 2017 and was in the CFP.

Give me 8 conferences of 10 teams each, conference title game is part of the playoffs, loser goes to a bowl.

Once Georgia lost, OSU was guaranteed a spot. They are sitting anyone with a slight injury. One CB has a sore thumb and was pulled. They know this is a only tune up game for the the Championship round.
