Is Herbie really trying to make the case for tOSU to be #1 after this week? Really? After beating a horrible Nebby team?

I could see possibly flipping Clemson and Alabama this week, but how does tOSU go from #5 to #1 Herbie? C'mon.

Clemson has looked very pedestrian and OSU has looked nearly flawless.....that's how. I'd put Ohio State at #1 right now too, or at least in the conversation with LSU, Oklahoma and 'Bama. I don't think Clemson quite belongs there yet.

What happened to Nebraska?

They joined the Big Ten and have been nothing but average since.

They were average before going into the B1G and had some 9ish win seasons while in the B1G.

Conference affiliation has nothing to do with the state of that program and I'm not sure why people make that connection.

Joining the Big 10 isn't the reason Nebraska sucks. But abandoning their Big 8/Big 12 roots certainly didn't help.

They had some bad years in the Big 12 and averaged 9ish wins in 5 years on either side of the switch. B1G fans act like they've been just dominated but really until 2017 they were OK.

If Frost can recruit he'll get to about that level. Actually won't be surprised if they figure some things out on the back end of this season again.

Look no further than their ability to recruit Texas since leaving the Big 12. Count the number of guys from Texas on the team from their last championship compared to the past few years. It’s a large disparity and partial explanation in the talent drop.

They still have a ton of players from CA and Texas and their usual recruiting footprint in nearby states. In their glory years, they were able to recruit New Jersey and Florida.

The difference now is that they don’t have the horses or development in the trenches to win consistently against similar or better teams in the Big 10. Depth has been an issue for them and they’ve fallen apart at the end of the year far too often. Recruiting hasn’t been a problem on paper for them. They’ve recruited well and all over the country.

With exception to going 6-6 in 2015, they were getting roughly 9 wins/season until 2017...if you're implying this is because they're in the B1G, that's incorrect.

And they were ranked to start this year because they got better in the 2nd half of last season.

It's weird that this 'see what happens when they got in the B1G?' narrative still exists. They've been about the same over the past 20 years.
