Awful stuff. Went on for 2 decades with no action. Reminds me of the Michigan State scandal.

Feel like we need a reckoning as a society when it comes to this. We can’t rely on adults not to prey on kids. We can’t rely on powerful people to treat other humans with respect. I have zero knowledge about kids, so take this with a grain a salt, but do we start teaching children about sexual perversions at a younger age so they are aware when they’re being exploited and less shamed about it? If we get more open about kinky stuff, will people be more likely to seek help? Does sex really belong in the privacy of your bedroom when predators are using that privacy to prey on the vulnerable? Does Google just leak everybody’s search history? I do not think we have taken things like the Catholic Church scandal and seriously reckoned with them.

College students aren't “kids”.

Education is always better than hiding a major part of being human.

And you are spot on when you say we haven’t reckoned with these things appropriately. Good Lord like you mentioned a church that is one of the powerful world institutions for many centuries enabled child molesters and hid their crimes. And now so many similar cases (seems like a Big 10 pattern) where people placed their own power and security over protecting vulnerable children. It really doesn’t get any more evil than this.

Or work against the idea that powerful people and people who bring in money can just do whatever the hell they want.
And this won't just be a Big Ten thing. Schools and organizations all over have some sort of reckoning coming.

Maybe if people mattered more than money, but now I've gone too far.

And the Big 12 still has Baylor.

This is one that isn’t about conferences.

It is about basic human decency.

Penn St, Mich State, Ohio State, I am probably missing at least one. It isn't a conference thing, but make no mistake, this doesn't enhance the image of the Big 10.

Penn State, Michigan State and now Ohio State. The Big Ten leads the country in disgusting human beings.

I taught my kids at a young age... 'Just tell them "You can do better than me"'.

I think all parents would be wise to do the same.

If we really wanted to hold these institutions accountable they'd be shut down entirely. That sounds extreme but really that's because these types of things being allowed to occur make it sound extreme.

And they HAVE been allowed. People knew what Sandusky was doing and it continued, there's no way associated people weren't aware of what's happened at Ohio State or what was happening in churches.
