I believe they didn't even get enough votes to be "in the consideration" part of the poll either.

Honestly, even if we win out, very unlikely we get back in the Top 25. Not like the AP Poll matters anyways.

New Mexico St got 1 vote and is listed. We are 28th with 58 points.

Maybe this will be a wake up call for the team.

With that said if they win 2 of their next 3 they’ll probably get back in.

Other teams lose too at this point in the year.

Personally I think dropping out of the top 25 is the best thing that could happen to Iowa State. Historically we underperform whenever we're ranked. We seem to play better when we feel we're not getting any "respect" from the national press.

It's amazing, then, that we managed to stay in the rankings for nearly 3 seasons straight. That's a lot of underperforming.

Yep. The key is righting the ship. Michigan State lost three straight, including one to Indiana at home and another at Illinois. They've lost two starters. But they've managed to win five in a row, including one at Michigan. There's still plenty of time to get hot, but late February isn't generally when you want to run into adversity. The next two weeks are huge.
