ISU wins conference championship, if

Lard remembers his primary skill is shot blocking.
Wiggington remembers his primary reason for being on the court is to shoot 3's.
Team develops (pass) plays to assist (Babb) in moving the ball past mid-court.
Jacobs becomes more aggressive on offensive rebound put backs.
Zone defense is mixed in opportune times.
Team continues to hit FT's
Coach Prohm becomes more proactive on players strengths.

ISU misses out on historic opportunity to win conference, if

Lard continues to have a lack of focus and discipline on the court.
Wiggington continues to turn the ball over almost every time he touches the ball.
Opponents create foul trouble for Babb.
Team continues to miss layups.
Same team allows opponents to get free for open layups.

My take.

Opponents creating foul trouble for Babb? Blasphemy!

Lard showed yesterday that his primary skills go beyond shot blocking.

This is a decent ISU team that may end up on top or not and even if they do, these types of threads will still be around to act like a conference title is the absolute expectation and not the exception.

Not a whole lot I agree with there, sorry. Especially the first 2.

Lard's biggest issue is that he believes he can block everything, and that gets him into his foul trouble. Sometimes he's not in position to block the shot and has to understand that.

And Wigginton's best asset is not his 3 pt shooting IMO. He's so freakishly athletic that he can drive past just about anyone and get into the lane and create things either for himself or others. He does need to work on his handle a little bit, but I do think he's starting to finally get his legs under him better, so hopefully less falling down when his upper body gets too far ahead of his lower body when driving. But definitely need him to drive it IMO.

As far as FT's, we're the best in the league, however, we don't seem good down the stretch of games it seems. We missed the front end of two 1 and 1's down the stretch yesterday. I would like to see some stats where if you miss the front end of a 1 and 1 it counts as going 0-2 from the line instead of 0-1, because that is basically what it is.

We do need to improve on out of bounds plays for sure, and not allowing teams to drive in for easy lay ups all the time too. We get beat off the dribble way too much and allow guys to get to the rim for lay ups.

Wigginton putting pressure on the D by attacking makes us way more dangerous on offense. I think he just needs to look to finish more instead of trying to make a tough pass for the assist. With his speed, ball handling, and athleticism, it would be pretty stupid of Prohm to tell him to just stand outside the 3 point arc.

Wigginton’s strength is his ability to do both; hit three’s and get to the rim; his opportunity is improved ball security.

Clonedude is correct; Cam needs to stay out of foul trouble by knowing when to contest a shotvs. block a shot vs let one go when beat.

A good sign that we can win different ways, but we are also fortunate the game was at home; Hilton crowd responded late and helped the team make plays late

I have to ask myself what team the OP is watching. With a very few exceptions, his observations appear to be about a completely different team than the one I watch.

Here is my hot take on how we win the conference outright.
1. We win all the rest of our games by at least 1 point.
2. KU, BU, and KSU all lose at least 1 more game in addition to their remaining games against ISU.

Most likely path to get there. KU and KSU split their two remaining games against each other. KU beats BU when BU travels to Lawrence.

I love watching wiggington drive hard to the basket. I hope he doesn't give up on that and just shoot threes

Wiggs from 3 can be good, but we really need him taking it to the rack, drawing fouls, opening up shots for others. When he's doing that, plus hitting the open three, the Cyclone offense is a thing to behold.

The primary strength of our backcourt is that every single player can both dribble drive and fill it up from 3. That puts a ton of pressure on a defense. Wigginton is an elite athlete with a 40 inch vertical. If we want to make a deep run in the tournament he needs to be aggressive. We aren't going to shoot a high percentage from 3 point range multiple games in a row. Wigginton is way too much of a stud to be unimpactful if hes having an off night from deep.

My 7 year old daughter will often say something completely crazy and obviously false. After I give her a quizzical look she'll scream "Just kidding, It's opposite day daddy!" I suggest the op do the same to save some face.

I rarely agree with OP and most of the time I don't really understand what he's talking about.
