I'll never forget the day of the football game when she was to have been honored. When the team came out in locked arms, walking slowly to the sideline and the crowd went completely silent--even before the PA guy said anything about a moment of silence. It was a surreal experience. That whole day just had a somber undertone to it. Tragedy to say the least.

I remember stopping at the Strawberry Patch in Ankeny after work on Friday, as I didn’t have many good yellow ISU shirts, and the line was out the door.

Iowa State fans have never done well with games where we are supposed to wear a certain color. I know that I am superstitious and therefore never wore whatever color they wanted me to for a basketball game or a football game. So when this somewhat organic 'wear yellow' campaign came up after she was killed, I wondered if it would work. It seemed like not enough people would hear about it and I know it was hard to find yellow shirts that week (I went to 3 places before going up to Ankeny). There was probably nothing more moving to me than walking into that stadium and seeing almost everyone in yellow.

I believe there's an individual on this website "Arganbright". Wonder if there's any relation to the sheriff in the story?

I still get choked up at how the moment of silence started without any announcement.

We took our 3 year old girl to that game and tried to explain the moment silence. Just that somebody bad hurt and killed this girl who was golfing. She's mentioned it several times since then.

The saddest thing is that we got her a set of toy golf clubs for Christmas (she loves golf). I mentioned taking her golfing this year and she said she didn't want to get hurt like 'that girl.'

:(:(:(

I was cleaning up some pictures backed up on Google Photos the other day and ran across the video I took of the stadium before, during, and after the moment. And the video they played on the video board. Made me tear up and hoping that we do something permanent for her. She was Iowa State through and through and should never be forgotten.

They should consider naming the ISU Golf Performance Facility after her.

I brought every gold ISU shirt I own and passed them out at the tailgate to anyone who didn't have one. I don't think they thought it was a big deal but they thanked me after the game.
