Mulder is 6'8" & 225lb per Ft Wayne's website. So yes he is on the smaller end of post players. But in the highlight video I watched he looks to have a great motor with decent quickness & explosion for a post player.

But what is a Big 12 post player? In watching the better Big 12 teams this year I feel coaches like a 2 headed monster. An uber athlete shot blocker and bruising rebounder. Here are the top Big12 teams post players:

Houston: Francis 6'8" 235lbs / Tugler 6'8" 230lbs / Roberts 6'8" 235lbs
TT: Toppen 6''9" 225lbs / Federiko 6'11" 215lbs
Arizona: Veesaar 7'0" 235lbs / Awaka 6'8" 250lbs
BYU: Keita 6'8" / Traore 6'8"
KU: Dickinson 7'2" / Bidunga 6'9" 220lbs

So it doesn't seem like Mulder's size would be a liability. But it probably makes sense that our other post be taller and more of a shot blocker type like Ward & Osunniyi.

Now list verticals of all those guys

Glad my collective money is getting put to good use. 8 points a game at Fort Wayne. Yikes!!!
What makes you think that TJ doesn't recruit guys he needs out of the portal, even though their stats weren't the best? Take a look at a couple of the guys he's gotten. Didn't preform elsewhere at nearly the level they brought at ISU

Cluff is still the staff's target for the starting Center roll and what the collective donation is being used to recruit.

Mulder can be the Chatfield replacement as in taking his minutes as a backup post and will get a NIL representative of that. He'll be a good backup option to play 4or5 when Jefferson/Hopefully Cluff need a rest and insurance as Pietra develops.

Roll- I like cinnamon ones, not a huge fan of turkey ones

Role-projected place and or job on a team. I like players whose role is to kick ass.

I’m just teasing btw

Outside of Dickinson all those guys are freak athletes and most have big wingspans.

Personally that’s what I want for a 5.
What is Mulder’s wingspan? Seems to be a plus.

This is the epitome of a moneyball, “gets on base” signing. Exactly one of the pickups we needed.

We needed more flexible length and size. He gives us that.

He dunks better than anyone we had last year outside of Watson

He’ll give us another frontcourt player that can defend more than just post-ups. We need to get back to being able to cover ground.

When you need 4 runs, getting 3 singles and a home run is as effective as 4 home runs

He's a big body and probably got him on a sweetheart NIL deal.
As in room, board and tuition paid for?

I'm joking mostly, but it's pretty wild that fans have to cough up extra money and that a full ride, all expenses college education isn't enough to get a guy that goes for 8 and 5 in the Horizon league.

On the other hand, he was pretty efficient, and doubting Otz is a great way to be wrong.

Looks like he can finish at the rim and be strong with the ball.

This is a classic Otz money ball. It may not work every time but so far he's done pretty good at identifying analytics darlings that fit a role

Not trying to be a smartass but is this the worst commitment from a transfer we have ever gotten? Merrill Holden maybe? Jazz Kunc did not have the numbers but at least he was in a power conference.
Polishing a turd. We sucked on Friday and we have nobody to blame but ourselves. You would like to think our head coach would not be outschemed by freaking Memphis. Them coming out in a different defense says more about or inability to adjust.

Your 3 posts have a bit of a theme

With Jefferson, we don't need someone to create a ton of offense in the post next season. We need someone that will have a ton of energy, defend and rebound their butt off, and finish shots at the rim. This guy appears to be a perfect fit.

This is an honest question. Are we done going after trasnfers from Kansas, Minnesota, Penn State, UNLV, and St. Bonaventure now? It just seems like we've been going progressively lower each year for players.
And yet we keep getting better... seems like our staff knows what they are looking for.

In listening to Williams and Blum they think he'll play about 20 min's a game so he'll be a back up 4 or 5 most likely.
I’m not sure they said they think he’ll play 20 minutes/gm, but rather that he could play 20 minutes in a game if needed

He went for 11 and 6 in 20 minutes against UCF, and 12 and 11 in 27 minutes against PSU

If we get that from our 3rd or 4th big, at 1/8 the cost of Jackson, it’s been an elite offseason

He looks to have much more lateral foot speed than our bigs from this year, and a decent wingspan too. Switching on the perimeter is just as important these days for a big as it is to be able to rebound/block shots. If he has a high motor I think he can get some decent minutes.
