ISU still pulled within 1 point AFTER the stupid cylinder violation. I would have liked to see ISU continue to pressure their guards and deny Cryer the ball. We relaxed too much defensively and Cryer, Uzan and Sharp made us pay. We also missed some FTs late and turned the ball over on offense. You can’t hang your head about the refs (not saying the players did that) when the game is still on the line.

No, you are entitled to the space in front of you. And thats not what happened. He just ripped his arms through to get the ball on his strong side.
He’s a full arms length away until Cryder stepped forward. Nate is also entitled to his space.

It didn’t cost us the game and it’s always going to be a tough whistle on the road. But that’s not the rule, especially when you can look at the review.

Oh well. Good effort and it shouldn’t hurt us.

Do you know what a bad call is because it was a bad call. There is a reason why they put that elbow to the face is a foul. The spirit of that call is for player safety.

Again, if that is the cylinder then everybody is in the cylinder then why have it a violation to have elbow to the face.

I know what a bad call is, but I also know how to read, so I know that was not a bad call. If you would like to read the rules to become more acquainted with what you can or can't do in basketball, there is a free rulebook you can download from the NCAA website.

You are just parroting Jay Bilas, and he was wrong. A player can crowd them like Heise did, but if there is contact, its a foul on them.

I am not saying they aren't huge, but many times he passes it out when he's at the rim and we don't get a any points that possession.
I’m with you on that. I was just pointing out that he did contribute offensively but I agree, there are a lot of times when passing up a not-so-great look leads to a TO or someone taking an even worse look.

Keshon has looked limpy for at least the past month.
Total guess but I’m wondering if it’s a groin strain with Keshon. I’ve had one of those and it’s a b*tch. The difference, however, is that I didn’t have trainers and a recovery plan.

Cryer finished with 3 fouls in 35 minutes. Reasonable to believe he would have sat more with the extra 2 fouls (1 reversed and an uncalled flagrant). Got to give him credit for an incredible game but I have to give the refs some credit, too.

Our bench outscored UH 11-4!

More things in life to get frustrated about lol
Obviously.

Which I why I used the term “sports-frustrating”. I cannot imagine watching that game, as a sports-fan of the visiting team, and not being frustrated. No, not like “real life / personal life” frustrated, but about your favorite team and its attempts to win a basketball game. The players and coaches sure were frustrated. They busted their ass out there and Houston got a ton of bounces to go their way.

You make it sound like it's cut and dry. It is not.

But actually, Heise was to his right, not in front of him. So that was an unnecessary action. And if you are going to call that, Houston should have had 40+ of those.

That was a "Culture" game- 99 percent of the NCAA Men's Basketball teams would have folded down 15 on the road and missing your two leading scorers. Cryer does not go off with Keshon and Curtis playing. No moral victories just Iowa State Men's Basketball Culture on full display for the country to witness. Go Clones.

They even fought back after the 3 point swing on the face foul.

No game is going to have a deck as remotely stacked as this the rest of the year. Not even if we somehow end up in an NCAA game where the other highly ranked team is really near home.

They probably will not play a team that matches them in defensive intensity like ISU.

Their offensive efficiency numbers are very good this year.

But today it took a career performance by Cryer to carry them
I'm not talking about a computer assessment. I'm talking about being able to run an offense and get a bucket that isn't a one on one, step back three. On a neutral court, season in the line, those are a lot tougher. They will play plenty of teams that match them defensively in the tournament.

Their entire game plan the first half was to have 2 guys physically fouling Milan every second he had the ball.

I get why, I'd have made that my game plan too with Gilbert/Jones out, but when the officials rewarded it it became an even better strategy. Basically the main reason the first half wasn't close.

Houston's entire team fouls out before half if these refs give a flying **** about the cylinder. Not even an exaggeration. Several dozen first half colander fouls just guarding Milan.
