That series is done, sadly

So this game is just replacing that one.

in the modern era, we have mostly struggled agaisnt the better Big 10 teams. I remember losing to Ohio State 4 times(twice in the tournment), Purdue in the tournament, Illiniois in the tournament. I remember spliting with Michigan and of course beating Wiscosnin in the tournament.
Struggled to win close games.

Four of those were close losses in the tournament.

Another was a close loss by a mediocre ISU team to a top OSU team

The 2006 game against OSU is the only one that’s been uncompetitive

Nah, we already play Iowa. Unless that goes away there's is zero reason to play any other P5 team. 11 P5 opponents in one year is ridiculous.
Why not? It most likely will never happen but it should be a thing that every P4 has to play 11 P4 opponents in football. With it becoming a NIL world and the fans kicking in more and more money. Should get rewarded with interesting games.

Nice!

Any idea who we'll get in the Big East challenge? It will likely be a road game. Georgetown, Butler, or Providence would be fun. I think those are the only ones we haven't played yet in the TJ era.
I imagine it will be a top 4 team in their league. Creighton played KU this season I think, so the chances are 50/50 it is them. UConn will probably get KU or Arizona or Houston.

This season was the last B1G East/Big 12 challenge, it's done.

Love this news. If I had to guess someone like Fox or CBS is driving this series of games and will be on network TV.

Not a big fan of dropping from 20 to 18 Conference games. Feel better move would be playing geographic divisions with home/away games against division rivals. IMO in 16/18 team conferences, it's not important to play everyone annually.

I agree. But until everyone else has to do it we should not. We're not Georgia. We need every W we can get.

Doing something for the fans!? Not in this lifetime.

One of those 'can't go wrong' deals. So long as Purdue stays in their current era of being good-great, if ISU gets beat it likely doesn't mean much but on the other hand it's a good win.

The problem is even the Alabama's and Ohio State's play 2-3 cupcakes a year in football. I wish all P4 teams would get away from doing this but it probably doesn't make sense for ISU to do it when 95% of Power 4 teams won't quit playing FCS and bottom feeding G5 teams.
