Make the first - 75%
Miss the second - Assume pretty good if you're trying - 90%
Get the rebound - During the game, AU had 13 offensive rebounds compared to ISU's 27 defensive rebounds - 32.5%
Make the put back - AU was 19 of 37 on 2 pt shots - 51.4%

.75x.9x.325x.514 = 11.3%

Considerably higher odds
How many offensive rebounds on their own free throws? They tried near the end of regulation that same scenario and failed. Could they have done that all in under 2 seconds?

And playing two games in 2.5 days doesn't help. These long weekend away trips kinda suck now but is the reality in this new league.

Houston has to do the same thing in February. From Feb 15-24th they play at Arizona, then at ASU, then ISU at home, then at Tech two days later. Let's hope they lose a couple there.

But anyways, a regular season championship is nice but the end goal is a good seed in March. Still a lot of games to go!

Really hard to come up with words for that one. The result flat out sucks. Macro level - doesn't hurt the team much. Winning on the road is tough. And hell, it might propel is to win even tougher road games @ KU and @ Houston. But a loss is a loss, and a loss is never a good thing.

Just gotta hit free throws. Same thing happened to Tech against us...

I didn't watch the game but just saw the buzzer beater. That's just bad luck, nothing you really can do about it

Had to double check KenPom that last night wasn’t just a bad dream.
I'm gonna have a tough time moving on from this one. I always take losses in stride and enjoy the ride, but was so proud of the way be competed shorthanded and tired, and we won that game, only to have a complete lucky miracle ruin it. Another huge misfortune is the metrics think we got spanked by 11 and played a horrible defensive game giving up 86. In reality we won by 3 and gave up 68.

So PROUD of this team. They fought though a 16-0 run in a crazy environment. They put themselves in position to win the game with their leading scoring having an off night. This team plays for each other, and they will continue to have our support with the energy and effort they bring night in and night out

The team are full of fighters. I’m excited to watch the rest of the season play out. Let’s send the wildcats back to submission and then win at AFH next week.

Go Cyclones!

Yes. There wouldn't be enough time for them to do more than try to bat the ball up. I've seen ISU lose too many games on last second 3-pointers.
If ISU fouls without risking fouling on the shot they are doing it before a catch, so they are shooting FTs with catch and shoot time remaining.

This is the part I’m struggling with psychologically as well. Outside of that stupid 100% luck shot with the game 99.875% over, that was a great win.

The toughness and effort on a short turnaround in a tough environment were great. The turnover problems need to get cleaned up. Still not seeing consistent actual offense. Lots of overdribbling and dependence on guys making quite a few fairly high degree of difficulty shots.

But these are things that can be addressed. This team has guts.

I'm only going over major things when I say this. Look what it took for Arizona to win on their home court. Poor FT% by ISU, CUJO, one of the worst games of his season, Milan out with injury and a stupid buzzer beater to send it to OT.
I'm not going to panic, neither should you.

I need to get the point where a college basketball game doesn't destroy my night of sleeping. My gosh.
I just don't understand how and why that shot had to go in. He could have shot that ball 1000 times and not made it.

Anyway, this team is really really good. I am a bit sad that Lipsey having a thumb issues and Milan being out and we are not even halfway through the conference schedule. I think Milan being absent showed a bit last night.

This reminds me a little of our 2000 season with tinsley/fizer. (minus losing to Drake 44-48 lol)
Lose close game to #1 seed Cincy early in the season.
Lose at OU in 2 OTs
Lose at CU in 1 OT where Billips hits a half court shot to send to OT and they just smoked us in OT

The difference now a days is we have 20 Conference games versus 16 which is a little easier on the legs.

Great job and should have won, and as a whole, our team didn't have the greatest game.

Get the next one.

I hate stuff like this so much. If Love doesn’t throw that shot in are we saying this?

Let’s take a step back and use our brains. Without Milan and with Heise’s offense not coming around we are all the sudden a very thin team. Our core 4 are playing 35 minutes a game. And this isn’t an Iowa 35 minutes. This is 35 minutes of intense defense and rebounding. Throw on top of it being on a 5 day road trip, a shorter than usual break between games and a tip at damn near 10 pm— and it still took a prayer to beat us.

Jefferson had 15 and 4 and facilitated well. CuJo was guarded really well and they had a plan for him. That’s a good team in a tough environment. It’s not a matter of “not showing up”. It’s a tough game, made tougher with all the circumstances I mentioned above.

To me the reality is with our bench not performing and Milan out, we are probably a 5-10 ranked team. No shame in that. But the “he didn’t show up” or “they gave up” nonsense is ridiculous.
Watch the film. I don't know what the issue was, but he was playing flat footed. He was late on close outs and at times looked like he didn't want to. He didn't play as well as he has in other games at WVU and he responded with 30 the next game so hope he responds the same way Saturday.

Losses so far:

(1) Auburn, neutral floor, buzzer-beater tip-in in a game we led by 18 points in the second half
(2) WVU, road, historically negligent officiating
(3) Arizona, road, miracle chuck to force OT

The latter two missing our best shooter and with our pre-season All-American playing with one thumb.

So much bizarre sh*t.
