I don’t know how much more clear I can make this. Fran isn’t walking away from his money. I’m not sure why this is a thing.
Yeah, he knows he’s a player short at every level.

HE’S TRYING TO GET FIRED.

Why do you think the psycho rage beast sideline act has gone dormant this year?

I’m cashing out for the full amount.

If you’re 65 and already well off why would you give a **** if they say they fired you?

Give me my money.

I think Iowa needs to hire someone with a passion for Iowa sports that will do whatever it takes to win at Iowa and won't leave for a better job. They are in serious danger of being a stepping stone job if they mess up the next hire.

If DeVries goes to Iowa, would any of the current players fit his style? Mass exodus and how much NIL would it take for him to buy a roster?
Is Tucker an NBA player?
He'd be a nice piece to build around, but if he has a shot at the NBA, I'd assume he'd be done after this year.

It was funny to watch him last night. There was a point where the refs were confused on a jump ball and he, for one brief second, got up and started charging towards the refs. But then he immediately stopped. It's like he's doing everything in his power to avoid being fired for cause.

Tucker is an outstanding college player that doesn't have the athleticism or single individual elite skill to stick in the NBA for a long time. He may bounce around for a couple years but he's not going to play for a decade in the league.

Not sure if that is the case - finding the right fit and being a good locker room guy (see Niang) can keep you in hte league for a while.

Their fan base want to believe that both Fran and Freerents are going to walk away because it gets EIU out from paying them off and out of their contract that they are owed. They throw out things like both have made plenty of money, and owe EIU a solid and it will keep their good name with the fan base.
The truth is, neither is going to walk away, they both want what is owed to them and if the university decides to fire them, then they expect to be paid well for not finishing out the contract.
Prohm going winless in his last season left ISU with no choice but to fire him and pay the buyout, but EIU is going to win 6 or 7 conference games this year, enough that its going to be difficult for them to outright fire Mad Fran. Their new AD has been on the job a little more than a year, and she has enough money problems already, without adding another $10 million to the total for a buyout.

All he's got to do is tell Beth to look at the "body of work". He has her hostage and he's going to get major $$$ for how that awful fanbase treated his kids.
That might have worked with Barta, but I think Goetz has demonstrated she's willing to make changes when necessary a la Brian. Fran's tenure seems like it's cyclical and I have no data to support this, but it seems like there will be a few years that they'll have really nice seasons, then a couple of crappy seasons when the in state talent just isn't there. I'm not sure I could really say what "identity" the Iowa basketball team has or has had during his time there.

The hit on Brain came from above her.

With what money? they owe the university 50M... then they're going to be around 8M to buy out Fran and assistants. THen, they have to buy out DeVries... the math ain't mathing.
The 50M to the University probably can be negotiated and paid at very appealing terms. The 8M to Fran and his assistants is very doable for their donors.

But I just cannot see DeVries leaving to take the Iowa job.

I would guess that Beth at the end of this season will give Fran some kind of performance schedule he has to fulfill to keep his job. Ultimately it will be Fran deciding if he want to continue to coach next season...not Beth or the boosters.

I'm guessing Dix would be invited to stay. Freeman too. Maybe young Sanfort? After that, you're probably fine to burn it down to the ground

The guy wins enough to not get fired, he is like an NFL team that finishes each season 7 to 8 wins. Good enough to make the playoffs from time to time, but not bad enough to really get better in the draft. You are stuck, spinning your wheels.

Fran had a couple nice seasons with Garza and the Murray, but has never gotten a team to the 2nd weekend in all his years of coaching. His teams are fun to watch offensively because they put up a lot of points, but they refuse to play much of any difference and when you get a game like last night when they only made three 3 pointers, you get beat.

She had nothing to do with Brian.
