Our apparently incredible guards got punked by one man. Bad performance from team, staff, and refs.
I thought all of our guards tried to do too much. No ball movement and with our inability to make 3s they just clogged the middle and we could not make them pay for it. We have to find someone that can put it in the hole or those driving lanes will disappear. Good coaching job by Devries to muck it up and Small took over at the end.

Every post you’ve made today has been complaining about 3 pt shooting and tbh I’m just over it.

College basketball is a game of momentum and rhythm. While refs don’t affect the outcome, they affect rhythm and momentum. Refs can be bad and we can still play poorly which is what happened today
You want me to stop talking about 3 point shooting in a game that we just went 1-17?

It wasn’t good. I’m not defending the officiating for anything OTHER than it was consistently bad for both teams. Did Walter’s mention that or did he just lament the missed calls on ISU?

I love John, but he’s a homer, and rightfully so. He’s going to paint the picture the way Iowa State fans want to hear it.
I mean... it wasn't consistent. Did you see any and 1s for us.. or any drives to the hoop for that matter... called like wvus and ones

We missed WIDE OPEN 3’s. I will repeat WIDE OPEN 3’s. We also missed lay ups. Layups sat on the rim and didn’t go in. It’s just one of those games. We lost.

But everyone wants to scream about refs but we played really bad. It’s ok to admit and move on to then next game. It’s being an adult.
…do you think the refs may have influenced how “bad” we played?

He didn’t need to score the other night. He played under control. He played great defense. He hit a key 3 to keep the momentum in the first half. We won by 17. Very odd to complain about his game on Wednesday. Very odd. He was also clutch AF down the stretch against Tech.
I didn’t complain about his game on Wednesday. I said recently he’s looked off and you took that to mean I was talking about one game in particular. He had six turnovers against Texas Tech, and three today. That’s what I’m talking about. Also your writing style is annoying as hell.

If we play like this again we will lose, good news is this seems more like an outlier than the norm, although teams are definitely gonna sag off us a lot. We need to be at least mediocre from 3, you can't be 1 dimensional in big 12 or games will go like this.
If we play like this again we get blown out. We were lucky that WV didn't shoot very good.

Kansas must have took to much energy out of the Clones. Looked off, that’s BB.
Regroup, next game up - UCF.

Refs sucked. Not DI quality. Bad both ways, but likely benefited VW because they used it to their advantage. They were more physical than us tonight.
It played right into WVU's hands. When the opponent is the superior offensive team, you slow the game down, minimize the number of possessions, and hope to make more shots. The Mike Fratello Cleveland Cavaliers of the 1990s.

Just last Saturday the refs “were as bad” as everyone has ever seen as well.
No, they weren’t. Refs were fine last Saturday. Refs were bad today, for both teams. A ref-dictated game flow typically favors the home team, like it did today.

No. We will probably another 2 years (I hope) before we have as poor of a shooting game as we did today. This was Pitt game bad.

It happens. Move on to the next.

West Virginia's only chance was to junk up the game, kind of similar to Otz's first team. Had the refs called it tight it would have benefited us, but such is life on the road.
