Unbelievably, yes.

They realize a long shot, but it’s on their list of “why not take a chance trying to lure one of these top coaches away?”.

To understand the Gophers fan base you have to realize they think Minnesota should be a destination. Big 10, huge university, big city, great HS talent locally, etc. they can’t understand why it’s not more of a destination for coaches and players than other midwestern locations like Madison, Iowa City, Ames, etc.

Which, in fairness, is a good question. But their program is a dumpster fire and it probably plays third fiddle after football and hockey (whereas a lot of basketball programs it’s second behind only football).
3rd at the university is like 7th in the community:
Vikings, Wolves, Wild, Twins, gophers football, gophers hokey ...gophers Basketball

I think the campus location works against the Gophers. It’s not much of a college experience, in my opinion. And as far as cities go you’re not talking about Miami, LA, etc that may be more desirable.

The apathy is twofold. One is that the teams are not great. The other is that you’ve got Vikings, Wild, Twins, Wolves to compete with.

The Twin Cities put outs a LOT of basketball talent. If you could get someone good in there and get some NIL interest you could create a solid roster just keeping kids home.

I don't follow KSU enough but what do their fans think of Tang? If he was our coach I would be embarrassed with his antics especially last year when he basically accused ISU of spying on their huddles and then the mop incident in KC. Saw the game on TV not long ago where after a win he was in the student section dancing with them so I don't know if maybe some fans love him and others don't?
To start, their online fans are terrible. Like, really bad. Most of them went from from loving him to wanting him gone in the past few months.

I know a lot of KState fans here in KC. Most have been pretty tolerant of him and still think he's an ok coach and an ok guy, but they have been gradually catching on to what the rest of us have been seeing for awhile.

In general, I believe most older fans are probably going to give their coach a little more leash because they've seen worse times in their past. I think the same holds true for KState fans. They want him to work out, but they are having a harder and harder time ignoring the red flags as the season goes on.

Agree. And I’d argue there is more interest in the MLS soccer team as well.

Just flipped yo KSU v TTech on CBSN, The octagon is less filled than Carver for a non con game. Tang may have to offer free pizza to end the year.

You might want to sit this one out. Students come back Tuesday. Manhattan is 2+ hours away from KC- weeknight games not doable. Biggest snowfall in a century that hasn’t been plowed on side streets.
It’s an hour 52 minutes away, and that snowstorm was on January 6th. You might want to sit this one out.

I tuned in to throw dirt on the body, but they’re showing a pulse.

And TTU is looking incredibly stupid and a shadow of themselves from the other day against ISU.
