Sure glad we got Jefferson instead of Kyle III….sure seems like TJ and staff just do a better job of maximizing talent

I think the trade would have been Chatfields ora Kyle. Kyle's defense would be nice, but he's small. Kyle at Iowa State would be a lot better than Kyle at UCLA. We can be sure if that.

Maybe Kyle just wanted a nice bag while sitting on the bench in sunny southern California, doesn't sound so bad (recent fire events excepted of course).

If you want a JUNKYARD DOG on your team, I'll take Dish/Jeff/Chat.

Jefferson has really good fundamental basketball skills and a very high BB IQ. He also appears to have some coach-on-the-court capabilities. This team is stacked, but these attributes of his are like some magic lubricant that makes all of the high-performance pieces mesh and work really well together.

Pulling JJ out of the portal was just an enormous win by this staff. I don't want to under-appreciate Jackson or Chat, but I love Jefferson's game and love watching him play.

For all of Kyle's athleticism, Iowa State would not be getting anything like this out of him IMO.

I think Kyle has been injured/has had a nagging injury that required a minor procedure. Unsure how much that's affecting playing time, but he's definitely not seeing the court much and has missed a couple games.

Edit: Found a story, not filled with details:

I’d like to see Jackson be stronger around the rim. He has been nails at the line, but feel like he’s leaving a lot on the table some games.
I wonder how much of that is fatigue? It takes a lot of energy to get that much size airborne, and I bet he didn't need to do it as much last year vs the competition. Maybe he is still adjusting. And maybe you just can't expect explosive athleticism out of a guy that size. Big Vic was anything but explosive.

Supposedly Jackson's had the flu, I wouldn't judge him based on the past couple games.

Dunks are cool and all but he's shooting 64% from the field, I don't think his finishing has been an issue overall. Not everyone big can be Shaq!

I'm not worried about Jackson at this point, especially with how well Chatfield and Jefferson are playing.

Jackson rebounded really well in the second half of the Baylor game.

I'm sure glad we got JJ and have him for another year. He's been great this year. It will be interesting what we do for center next year. Rock will be here but I assume they will be looking for another center from the portal.

If Jefferson works non-stop on that 10-12 foot jumper this offseason he is going to be unstoppable next year. Bigger frontcourt players really lay off of him because they know they can't match his foot speed and quickness. You can tell he isnt comfortable taking that jumper right now.
