Gas prices

Honestly the time really depends. If I’m going to just go home and watch more tv I don’t know that I need to factor my time. You should factor in the price of gas though. I used to drive up to Ankeny because it was regularly $0.30 cheaper. Assuming 1 gallon of gas that did make a difference. I haven’t done that in quite a while though as the price difference hasn’t made a difference even assuming it is cheaper.
I tend to get up to Ankeny about once every week or so. If my tank is around a 1/4 or lower, I will fill up there instead of the west side. I would never make a special trip for it. My time is way more valuable than a couple of bucks,

I know a guy who bragged about driving 15 miles to save 11 cents on a tank of gas which amounted to a savings of less than $3.00 but not accounting for the 30 minutes of his time he spent. Some people just want to say they got a deal. I don't have time for that.

LOL. He burned that much $ worth of gasoline if that was a 30 mile round trip.

This. I genuinely have no idea what I paid for gas on Sunday. If it's anywhere between $3.00-$4.99 I wouldn't even notice.

Das Audi burns the premium so mine is alway spendy but I'll probably only drive 4000 miles this year so don't really give a poop about it that much. No work commuting anymore and everything like grocery, Home Depot, car shop and booze store are all within a 5 mile radius of home.

How does one tell if a battery is going dead? I've had one in my vehicle about 6 years I got at walmart. My luck it will die some night in the middle of January.

Costco is always cheaper. But I do the cost-benefit analysis in my head. Yes I can save $2.50. But I also have to wait 10-15mins for a pump. I usually don’t bother because I’d rather just be on my way.

In my case, Costco is 30 mins away. If I had one close and could stop in anytime when there wasn’t a wait, that would be different.
Yeah if the line is short when I'm going to Costco to shop I'll fill up but otherwise I'm not wasting more then a couple minutes waiting to fill up with gas.

I have an aunt that always texts me before they come visit the big city of Des Moines (they live in eastern Iowa) to see what gas prices are out here. It's really annoying. After responding numerous times "I don't know, I pull up pump the gas and leave." I finally asked her why it matters, are they not going to come to Des Moines if gas is more expensive? I never got a reply.
Oh, c'mon. It's a perpetual topic of conversation (see this thread). If Iowans of a certain generation can't talk about gas prices, they may not have anything to talk about.

Tougher starts is probably the obvious one, test with a multimeter or go to an Autozone or similar store to have them test it for free. Getting 6 years out of a battery is probably pretty good, I figure 3-5 years is pretty normal/average.

It's more about when it idles the fan for the heater seems to act like it's running out of power.

Have you always felt this way about gas prices?
I'm pretty sure in the last 30 years or so I've never picked a gas station based on the price. I've also never based a decision on whether to go someplace or not on the price of gas. Now if it ever came to the point where some stations were $3 a gallon and others were $8 a gallon I'd start paying more attention to where I buy it.

Not exactly sure.
KS premium = no ethanol

Love's premium = 10% ethanol, at least $0.40/gal cheaper than KS premium
Ok, that’s different than what I’m used to. I’ve always seen 10% ethanol, no ethanol 87 and premium which is 91 and no ethanol. Then also the other ethanol percentages.

That isn’t the battery. It’s probably the blower motor but if electrical it would be the alternator but the alternator would give you dead batteries. Do you have a voltage meter in your dash?

Are you sure there is ethanol in their premium? I didn't think any premium had ethanol. If that isn't the case I may need to start paying more attention because my small protest against growing crops for fuel involves never buying ethanol if I can help it.
