Did my annual mail the Uncle Boxster Christmas candy treats to the grandnieces. Dropped off packages at UPS Store at 3:30 pm yesterday in Mpls suburb. Package was delivered to niece's house in Bettendorf at 9:30 am this morning! Store to door in 18 hours! Hell it takes me over six hours just to drive there from here.

According to their map tool, anything shipped from Minneapolis can get to anywhere in MN, WI, and IA next day. Interesting how things can get to certain areas in 2 days, but cross a state line and it takes another 2 days.This is part WOW! and part just to rub it in for @stormchaser2014

After going to the Maui Invitational during Thanksgiving week, and then the Big 12 Championship game in Texas last week, we rescheduled (again) our Thanksgiving for today. Two of the original families couldn't make it this weekend. Two could. I got lazy and arranged a cooked turkey from HyVee with all the dinner fixings (for 10 peeps) to be delivered. Wednesday, one of those 2 fams (in Waterloo) decided to cancel due to potential driving issues. Now we're down to seven. The dinner was delivered cold at 9 am, We expected this - they were supposed to include reheating instructions but didn't, and apparently no-one is there in catering to email me the instructions. Then second family cancelled this morning, five minutes after the dinner delivery.
I'm good with them cancelling, the roads (and our lane & driveway) are sheeted with ice which may or may not burn off by noon. But now Lew and I have a giant boxed dinner sitting in the garage (insufficient freezer space) with no instructions on how to reheat even if we wanted to!

Will be fun to measure against the package to Indianapolis and the one to Montana. Identical size/weight. The Montana one was 2X the price (they are in the foothills so think it goes US Post Office out to the boondocks).
UPS hires extra drivers at this time. They load up your days packages and drop them off at your house. You then have to get them delivered yourself. Probably does speed up the process.This is part WOW! and part just to rub it in for @stormchaser2014

We did a Hy-Vee meal and it seemed most things were regularish cook time.
Like 1 hour for Mac and cheese type stuff and 2-3 for the turkey.
I'm surprised there aren't general instructions on their website or something.
Yeah I meant reheating.
The sides were 'reheated' but basically it was like cooking a ready made meal if that makes sense.
And holy cow does a whole turkey take a long time to warm up.
You can get this for 175.
Yeah i think $250 is high for a rental. They chose the outfit we're wearing the other day. Sister's fiancé is buying his and she said it's about $500.
I wanted to wear a white tux with black pants and he said no pimps allowed.
So here's the thing. There's 7 bridesmaids and 8 groomsmen. Guess who's the odd man out.
