Pretty cool to hear what he had to say about his experience at ISU:

I felt that 45 years ago when I visited and made my decision for what college to attend right on the spot. I felt that throughout my tenure there. This is a shout out to good old fashioned midwest hospitality. Sure, there are outliers, but having lived all over the U.S., Ames is still the focal point for the greatest group of people I've ever had the pleasure of being around.

ASU fan from Minnesota passing through. Probably a bit more familiar with you guys than most ASU fans.

Tyson's loss is enormous. He's very good. Compares favorably to Brandon Aiyuk at this point in their careers. If he can get over the injury bug (this is his 2nd significant injury, he missed all of last season), he'll be a high NFL draft pick. The other ASU receivers are... alright. They don't get open reliably. There's people that can run by you if the safeties just outright cheat, and Metayer the TE is strong and pretty athletic, but there isn't a ton of juice outside.

ASU is playing on house money. This isn't what would be considered a good ASU roster by old standards, but coming off the NCAA stuff and just having great culture, they're overachieving. We aren't used to that.

I think you guys have a pretty good chance to win unless some guys really step up or you really screw up. The good ASU teams are gonna be in the next 2, 3 years.

I dearly hope we win, but I'd favor you guys by a TD without Tyson. You might roll us if we just can't get open and you sell out to stop the run.
Good info, thanks

I think they will score on us because their offense is legit, even with their leading WR out. I think it will take 28+ from the offense to win. Which means we need an accurate and reliable Rocco with no dumb pick 6s and the line play needs to be solid. Feed Noel and Higgins all day.

Wildcard is special teams. We've been solid all year but can't give up a blocked punt or punt return score or miss easy FGs.

I like that we were in this game 4 years ago and think that will benefit the staff to know how to approach a game like this.

Game will come down to stopping their running back, you have to hit him low and not allow him to get moving down field with a head of steam, and then Becht. If the good to great Rocco shows up, scans the field, looking to run 4 or 5 times and gets his throws down, we are great. But if he gets careless and his throws are sailing, we are going to give up some INT's.

This point going forward, each play is the most important play to date, and you have to take chances but not get carried away with it.

Is anyone else kind of jacked for an 11 AM kick?
As a west-coaster I can say unequivocally yes. Honestly, the anticipation might kill me in the 15-30 minutes I have to get up and make coffee.

Having hours to kill would be rough.

Its a not great matchup for us defensively.

Cam's a great back. And he's built somewhat like Alstott, but he's quicker than you might think. Not like super duper elite speed, but still more than 3 yards and a pile of crap type speed and quickness. And he gets stronger as the game wears on. Pretty good OL.

As mentioned, their best WR is out so that is a benefit to us, hope he has a good recovery.

Leavitt is a kid I liked the tiny bit I saw of him at MSU and has potential. He's athletic, and throws. He might be one of the better run-pass options we've seen all year. Like Daniels can really run, but he's also incredibly inaccurate. Similar to Avery Johnson, etc. He's sitting at about 68% completion. So he's not a one trick poney.

Defensively, they're 27th in stopping the run, tied with us with 14 interceptions and 26th nationally in passing efficiency defense where we are 5th, so they're top 30 in both categories defensively and 34th nationally in scoring defense.

In a way, I'd say they are who we typically are most years on defense. Very solid at both run and pass statistically.

Not a great matchup. I think they are peaking right now. Being down their stud WR hurts but still a very solid team. If we are able to get Brahmer back and Verdon... I like our odds better, presuming JR is good to go and everyone else stays healthy.

I imagine it'll be a close game.
