Rocco was scrambling all night, trying to avoid sacks, kept him from seeing some open targets, and certainly contributed to his 2 pick 6s. Wonder if Stevo Klotz and Carsen Hanson being dinged up was a cause. I have seen both pick up blitzers in the past and protect Rocco, Carson being out for almost 3 quarters and Rocco was running everywhere! to escape the rush.

I'm really worried about how many guys we have that are hurt, banged up, etc...Max effort from the walk-ons is great and all, but it won't carry the day in the biggest games a month from now. Gotta get some of these kids healthy over the next 3 weeks or so, definitely by the time we go to SLC.

It's bad enough the media downplaying our season, but I'm really over people who call themselves ISU fans doing it. Iowa State is 7-0 for the first time since 1938 and several people who claim to be ISU fans are still going to insist there are 15-20 teams better than us... INCLUDING a number of 2+ loss SEC and Big 10 teams? They're out of their ******* minds.
Enjoying this historic start for our team and acknowledging that our best win is against a 4-2 Iowa team are not mutually exclusive.

I don’t think it’s outrageous to wonder how we’d match up against a team like Alabama or Tennessee

Saying there are 15-20 teams better than us is not "wondering how we'd match up against Alabama or Tennessee"... it's saying teams like Boise St and SMU are better than us, as well as teams like Missouri, Ole Miss, Pittsburgh, Illinois, etc.

And yeah - in this year I think there's a good discussion to be had if ISU could compete with Alabama... because Alabama is NOT a good football team.

I think some are making this game way more complicated than it needs to be. Will our D give up more yards against the run? Yep. And tonight we gave up some explosive plays in that area. But if we don't gift 2 defensive scores to UCF we win this game going away even with those big run plays. The offensive miscues were what made this a game.

O-line didn't exactly have their best game, but we weren't great in a lot of phases.

But, like good teams do, we found a way to get the W. All great seasons will have a game like this, where you play like crap, probably should lose, but find a way to win.

Agree completely.

We gutted this out but Becht and the receivers just weren’t making the plays they typically do. Nothing that looked egregious, but balls that could be caught weren’t, and several times Becht overthrew open receivers.

All that said, what a weird game to complain about offense when we gained 530 yards. The second near-pick 6 really stands out - the ball could’ve been caught by the WR, and even if it wasn’t, what terrible luck to have it popped up right to the DB.

That ref really staring Rocco down
The inconsistencies of refs are enough to make you scream. You see all kinds of celebrations now and refs just ignore them. Then Rocco just screams toward the end zone and almost draws a flag. Remember years ago, Austen Arnaud scored, pointed up to God, tossed the ball to the ref, 15 yard penalty. Or Xavier Hutchinson when he just altered his steps as he entered the end zone, 15 yards AND negate the touchdown.
Yeah that ref last night really looked like he was wanting to object to something, anything.

The Hind judge kept staring at the students and cheer squad. You know he only cares about pulling a check. It’s the guy who kept messing up spots on fair catches and other things.

I'm thankful we had all of our time outs. I used to get so frustrated watching us burn time outs earlier in the half when behind in football games. By saving them for when we needed them, it allowed us enough time to get the ball back and get that score.

If we spiked it in that situation, it would have been an all time coaching blunder. The spike a few plays before with an entire minute still left was a mistake that we're lucky didn't cost us. Had they not called PI on the 3rd down it would have been 4th and long. The clock wasn't even a factor at that point deep in their territory.
I have no problem with the spike. Needed to gather the team and we had 3 plays to get the 1st down.
