Quit acting like 20-0 is a good score against that crap team. Seriously. We should have Been up 20-0 at half
Quit acting like you are some brilliant football analyst when even the spread had us only winning by 16/17. Was it a great performance, No. But it sure as hell wasn't crap. Go back to the 1990's and have all the crap performances you can swallow.

No turnovers, very few penalties. Low energy environment. Depleted linebacker core. Without your star receiver much of the 2nd half.

Houston will win a game they shouldn't this year because of their defense - it is not the worst defense we will see in the Big XII (looking at you Gundy). Their offense sucked and we completely snuffed them.

Kudos to the coaching staff for having patience.

I still remember that day (I was at work) watching the pregame show with Seneca wearing a Roman toga and all the Heisman hype … only to see Iowa State get absolutely destroyed in Norman.

6-1 (including the robbed FSU game) and riding high … ending the season 1-6 being outscored 275-125.
If I remember correctly, we didn't cross mid-field until Q4 in that game.

It was a win, on the road, ugly but we will take is. I was impressed with the Houston defense, they really got after it and did a great job shutting down our running game until the end. Amazing that a school in Texas cannot have better QB play than what they are getting, both of those guys are horrible.

On the ISU side, again Becht struggled the entire first half, the run game was off and on for most of the game, and we tackled very poorly last night for much of the game. Defense came up big when it had too, and the score does not show how close the game really was. No turnovers and few penalties allowed us to pull out the win.

On to a home game with Baylor, who like us started poorly and kicked it in to make their game against BYU close.

Also the 4th and short up 3-0 after the Higgins catch would have been very tempting to go for it but credit to CMC on that patience to not give Houston any chance of momentum

OC and Becht were pretty bad. No Brammer. No misdirection. No deep completions. Also open field tackles were bad. Deep coverage seemed bad at times. Their QB didnt see a wide open TD when they threw the pick. Another db held while falling down. If Brecht was injured, then it was decent game management.

Yeah... the offense wasn't very good... but didn't really try much of anything either.

After watching that game... it's hard to believe we were able to shut them out honestly. Their QBs and RBs had some really good runs... their WRs were getting WIDE open at times (they missed the easy TD on the pick too)... and we had probably our worst tackling game of the year IMO.

It's amazing that we shut them out on the scoreboard.

Abu is obviously a home run threat, but I’d rather see Hansen or Jackson in situations where we need a yard or two
It's really strange how different each of our RBs are. But it's a good thing to have.

Take Sama's long TD run for example... I don't think Jackson scores on that. I could be wrong... but I don't think Jackson has the strength to break through those tackles like that.

But Jackson is so much better at finding holes that don't seem to be there than Sama or Hansen can.

Seemed like we were a little off, and just not able to finish drives in the first half for whatever reason. Punching that first drive in fora TD might have changed things. Still got to give credit for staying steadying and not committing a turnover or a big mistake that would have given them a shot.

If that's all he was down field that's some ********.
Remember the yellow line is the first-down line, the blue line is the line of scrimmage. He’s nearly four yards downfield.

You’re actually allowed three yards in CFB (like the 2 linemen right behind Barrett there), so he wasn’t way past the allowed area - I think fact he knocked the Houston player down and was still going after him, out in space, allowed the refs to single him out.

I think Rocco must have been having a shoulder issue. Someone mentioned he fell hard on it in the Arkansas State game. After one attempt early on, I don't think we even tried to throw it downfield. My guess is he was limited, and Houston defense picked up on this and knew we weren't going deep. Hopefully it's not a long-term thing.
Wondered about this myself…… saw the tape on his right shoulder under the pads.

Not the prettiest win , but a win nonetheless……damn glad to have it. On to Baylor!

Letter of the law it's a penalty, but I do think it was weak. The two plays after that were why he got benched is my guess.

He's more agile and can move laterally in quick snapping motions. I think Sama is the best one he's just not quite there yet.

That’s also right at the release and he’s still moving forward with his entire body beyond 3 yards. He was easily past while the ball was in the air.

Football seems to take a letter-of-the-law approach to nearly all penalties. Soccer and basketball at least in some cases take more of a spirit-of-the-law approach, i.e. did the team of the offending player gain an advantage from this? I'd like to see more of that in football.
