Angerer’s reactions that whole last drive are gold

As an almost-never-listener of Iowa radio broadcasts, I forgot they finally put Podolak out to pasture. Someone should take Angerer aside and remind him that especially in critical moments of a game he is a broadcaster first and a fan second, because he was useless during that entire stretch.

I have to give Dolph a bit of credit. Very complimentary

But boy, he isn't good at telling a person what is happening in the game. I listened on the Varsity app both Iowa State and Iowa's broadcasts looking for the last Iowa drive and our drive. So there was some scrolling involved. It was easy to tell where I was at when I'd scroll to a random part and within seconds John would tell me how much time was left. Scrolling the Iowa broadcast was tough because Dolph would never ******* say how much time was left.

Good gritty win Cyclones reminded me but flip result of the 2019 Cyhawk game. Iowa had chances to pull away but Iowa State made all the big plays when they had to. This win is type that can lead to a special season. This game has to lower the life expancty of all Iowans. What a great rivalry

Positive takes from that game..

1. Our defensive backfield is really good!
2. The trio of Rocco, Higgins, and Noel is deadly.
3. Jackson? Where did that come from? He needs more carries. That was next level stuff.
4. Heacock is the best DC in the nation.
5. Oline looks improved from last year.
6. We have a kicker!
7. CMC. This team reflects everything he teaches. "Team" is key. They play for one another. Every player comments how they work hard to be the best player they can for the "Team". Fun stuff to watch.
Very good list, I would like to know what the coaches said and adjustments they made at half, because both the offense and defense looked like two completely different teams the 2nd half compared to the first.

If the EIU staff could have sat down and wrote out how they were going to win the game, it would look like that first quarter. Play field position, ISU started a drive at the 1 yard line and the 5 yard line. We kept trying to run into a stacked defense with 8 guys at or near the LOS, and their DB's were just sitting on that quick out. Something changed in the 2nd quarter, maybe it was just we were not starting in the shadow of our own endzone, but both sides of the ball started playing better, we moved the ball down to get into field goal range and he just missed the kick and the defense stepped up twice and kept EIU out of the endzone from the 1 and 2 yard line.

Both coaches and players deserve a lot of praise for mentally staying in the game and not letting it get out of hand in the first half.

Yeah. Our long pass was broadcast pretty matter of factly with how big of play it was. But for some reason I enjoyed that snippet. Love angerer having to deal with it!

My game ball goes to the snapper on that field goal kick. The snap on the missed field goal wasn’t great if I recall correctly. Great snap under pressure.
It was…..not to be Debbie Downer here, but our special teams were pretty average to below average save that kick - quite a few low snaps, bobbled punt snaps, and the delay of game penalty which Campbell lost his stuff on the special teams analyst on TV. We were very lucky that Iowa didn’t sell out on punt block even though they did get the roughing.

Well…..that’s Dolph for you. Listen to the same game from both angles and come away with……were they watching the same game?

Love the godfather…

Things were not going well for ISU (understatement) but honestly plays like this were the little things that showed ISU could find some things if they could just get out of those situations.
The defense on that drive is where they said enough is enough and got mean and nasty. That play by Orange and how he reacted was amazing leadership.
