Can a Packer fan please explain Ant’s release to me? That really shocks me.
It doesn’t really make much sense to me. Must like the rookies over him on the field and on special teams. He’ll be on practice squad and be first called up if there’s an injury

I would of thought Harvey would have made the roster with Dallas and that Uwazurike would have been waived.
Harvey was waived before the Cowboys final preseason game. No sure if that means he never had a chance or Cowboys are sandbagging in hopes to get him on practice squad.

If he's released, unlikely going to the practice squad. If he was waived, sure. But being released means he's out on his own to do what he wants.

Players with fewer than four accrued NFL seasons are waived, making them available to be claimed by another team within the claiming period. The waiver priority order at this part of the calendar is the same as the draft order. If a player is not claimed during the 24-hour period, he becomes a free agent.

Players with four or more accrued seasons are vested veterans and become free agents immediately after their release. This policy continues until after the trade deadline. Following that, all players go through waivers (priority claim will be based on standings).

Johnson would fall under the first category (waived).

No. Released vs waived is a technicality in terminology based on accumulated years of service in the league.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see Johnson picked up off wavers. Dude is playing fast and furious. Dumb move by the packers honestly.

Practice squad signings begin at 12 ET/11 CT today. Will be interesting to see how many of yesterday's cuts go right back on to practice squads.

If Johnson isn’t headed to the GB practice squad, I’d think he will somewhere. I’m surprised if Rose doesn’t get a chance likewise and possibly Harvey too. Maybe my Cyclone vision is too partial but I’ve always thought Rose had the size & speed to make a roster since Hummel evidently has the essentials.

If you get picked up by another team off the waiver wire, do you go to the full squad or the practice squad? I can never remember these things.

I say it every year but I'd sign up for a practice squad deal.

They make good money and practices are likely not that physical/live once the season gets going.
Be really nice if you get on a good teams practice squad because then I believe you also get some playoff game $hare$ as well.
