If I recall, most of the riots were caused by non students visiting from out of town.
As I recall, the arrest reports were almost entirely young out of towners, just there for the party.

Of course, that always said to me as much that the actual ISU students knew how not to get arrested, as much as anything.

I was there for the inaugural Veishea riot in 1988. As soon as the police car got flipped at the big party I was at, my friends and I headed to smaller parties and didn't even know anything about the chaos that ensued later that night on Welch Ave. We found out the next morning as it was the headline story on CNN. It is unfortunate that non-students ruined what was arguably one of the most fun events I experienced while a student and back in the 80's there were a LOT of fun events.

Making progress. I always have to stop and think about how that center strip is actually the future CyTown.

I love seeing Ames, and the CyRide buses.

Is that A3 and B3 on the left side of that picture? They have a fair amount of work today in the next few weeks.

It is. Based on the current weather, I think they are fine. B3 has the curb and gutter essentially done and I'm assuming they are waiting to do asphalt all at once. B4 looked similar to B3 does today and it was done in under a week

Is the camera mounted on alumni center viewing East? Hard for me to calibrate by not seeing major structures.

Plus, 2nd layer of asphalt going on B3 today. Striping to soon follow.

Weather looks good for game day according the the long range forecast. With that new asphalt going down, better not get any high temps as that will just absorb the heat and it would be f'n hot.

Reminds me of RAGBRAI last year from Ankeny to DSM as it was super hot. They had stretches of new asphalt and you could see the heat waves coming off of it and it was just like a frying pan.

Grading. I assume gravel next, then the asphalt in fairly quick succession.
The perimeter of A3 was almost complete with concrete last night and it looks like they just need to pave the 2nd half of the new access road to begin asphalt.
