What the hell is going on with this ad bar on the top of CF

it takes up a third of my phone screen and I don't think I can X it on mobile from what I can see.

I've said it a few times on here, look into PiHole. It takes some setup and requires a Raspberry Pi or similar device but well worth it. Mine blocks 40 to 60% of traffic on a daily basis

Seriously as I was scrolling to the bottom to comment the page crashed. The weird video player thing at the top of the screen is horrendous.

I'm open to exploring ad-block options, but I also want a site to address ad-invasion situations effectively.
That'll be relatively fruitless with sites like CF that are hosted by 3rd parties. PiHole has an active community that updates lists of URLs to block. My list is at 1.2 million currently

What is funny is how everything freezes, can't scroll, type anything or even click out and I get this "page not responding"........but the adds just keep on rolling.

Getting really sloppy and almost a joke. Like an old fashioned E bomb.

Now my page dropped, and the red bar has some add from Kringle in Racine, Wisconsin in between a bunch of computer talk.

Sloppy.

Just like youtube, ads are cached on servers so they load faster than regular content.

My eyes that in my youth were better than 20/20 are now pretty bad so I have my laptop set up with pretty large text. By the time I have the ad bar at the bottom and the triple wide red ad bar at the top as well as the ad column on the right side there isn't a lot of room left on my screen to actually see CF content.

You would think that CF would want to balance maximizing ad revenue and usability for users. I don't imagine they get a lot of ad revenue from users using ad blockers and even less from users who visit less frequently or stop visiting at all.

I don't subscribe to many things, but I decided a long time ago that given the ridiculous number of hours I spend on this site, it's worth the $12/month premium subscription. If you can afford to be a premium subscriber, one of the nicest perks is that all the ads disappear.
