Heard new Wasabi is nice.
It is. I was there a few nights ago for the first time. Very stylish with a cool vibe. Very good selection of quality sushi and east Asian entrees. Thoughtful wine list. The owners have clearly spent a lot of money on the interior. Great addition to Ames, I look forward to returning soon.

Is "Grill Buffett Mongolian" still around? Classic gourge-yourself-on-mysterious-fried-meats-and-hate-yourself-afterwards spot
"Home of the Lukewarm-est Shrimp in town!"

Not sure if it's open or not. Haven't been there in probably 15 years.

Looks like it’s still going strong. I went there a couple times after it first opened. Ames didn’t have a retaurant like that at the time so it filled a niche. Is a place like HuHot better?

HuHot's star has faded substantially.

Texas Roadhouse can be decent on some days. Way better than Outback or Applebees. I know thats not a high bar.
Fair. Applebee's is lower than Hooters. It's ****** frozen food meets fast food

Still going strong. Pammell Grocery has a very solid gyro. Mo at flame and skewer has not changed a bit, love that guy.
Thank all for the comments, only go to Ames during football and maybe once a month. Without the publicity, hard to know of different restaurants.

Mo always treated us well. Recognized us and came over to chat.

I have a good buddy who has worked for him since high school part time. Everytme I go with him we never pay. He insults us in a good way but is very generous. I run into him at Hilton every once and a while and he always has some smartarse thing to say, but then will buy you a beer in Johnnys.
