Actually, the Oilers outplayed the Panthers in Games 1 and 3 as well but Bobrovksy outplayed Skinner significantly and the Oilers had some bad luck, quite frankly.
It doesn't matter now because they're down 3-1 in reality but the series has been much closer than the 3-1 would indicate.
Definitely outplayed Florida n game #1, but not so sure in game 2. The stats that are typically published don't provided a very good snapshot of the game. For example, I can outshoot the other team 2-1 but if all my shots come from the edges, and their shots come from the slot, then SOG can be misleading.
One thing I have noticed about Florida is they love to use the trailer on rushes, and if the opposing team doesn't pick him up, he effectively has a break-away against Skinner. The Oilers tightened that up a bit in game #5 but they have to be really, really committed to team defense, because the Panthers can burn you - fast!
