My a/c was out in my vehicle a few weeks ago, and since I'm fancy I have 6/70 ac. Six windows open, going 70 mph. :jimlad:
I’m trying to think how that is possible. Do you have the old wing windows for the front doors in addition to the standard door windows?

I can imagine 5/70 AC but 6/70 is blowing my mind. :)

This happened to us on a Friday afternoon during a hot spell a few years back. Had to move the family and dogs out for the weekend until it was replaced on Monday. It went into the upper 80s in our house.

The worst part was living with our parents for 3 days.

Okay, how about ceiling fans? My wife and I discussed the proper direction for our fans to spin in summer months. We spin them clockwise in the summer so that it pushes the air downward instead of sucking it up.

My old house in Ames was without AC for 5 or 6 days in August before classes started back in 2014. I could barely breathe upstairs where my room was. Slept on the floor in the basement and took ice cold showers.

Also, how about the fan on your HVAC?

We were advised by our repair guy to set the fan to on rather than automatic. He said this will continuously circulate the air in our house, reduce the significant temperature differential between our downstairs and upstairs, and reduce the amount of time our air conditioner must run.

I hate having our fan run non-stop, but those all sounded like good reasons so we changed our fan setting from automatic to on.

Ya mine didn't turn on unless the AC was running.

Replaced my last last Wed, had a leak in aluminum on high pressure side. I would save $1300 doing furnace at same time but it wasn't needed so passed, especially after replacing blower motor over the winter. Replaced the driveway a week before I noticed it was blowing hot air.

I pretty much have my furnace fan run 24/7 all year round. Keeps the air moving and temp more consistent in different rooms. Lots of high ceilings and vaulted ceiling so also keep a ceiling fan running on low in main living room. You don't notice the fan, it's like 13' high above the floor. Mostly finished basement and it keeps the air moving down there to so it never feels damp. Bought a pretty nice fan, not a big box store one, it's been running almost constantly for 20 years. That's a good motor in that unit!

Went geothermal in '95 and except for power outages, the fan hasn't shut off since then.
