Also kind of jealous we don’t have some big stupid company that prints money supporting our collective. Like oil, natural gas, or casinos do.

We've got agrichemicals just need to talk to the right folks or get alumni that like sports in key positions.

With who is coming in to the Big 10 next year, probably need a lot more than $500,000 donations to the swarm to be in the middle of the Big 10. I get the feeling, the Hawks will fall behind quickly.

Exactly how are the athletes promoting it?

I guess I was assuming that all those events that were mentioned that the athletes endorsed and helped out at were sponsored by the casino. And I’ve never known a sponsor to miss the opportunity to plaster their name all over all signage and brochures or have their board members glad hand with athletes at these events.

But yes, you are right that this was an assumption on my part. I was not there to witness that first hand.

Well it calls out in the post that Swarm athletes showed up to Riverside Casinos charity events. So you’re not wrong for assuming

Exactly how are the athletes promoting it?

In January, Elite Casino Resorts (with casinos in Riverside, Davenport and Larchwood) made a $500,000 commitment to become the “exclusive casino gaming partner” of the Swarm Collective. That’s the nonprofit charitable foundation created to support University of Iowa athletes with NIL cash.

“Working with Iowa student athletes will boost the charitable events we host” said Riverside Casino and Resort General Manager Damon John. “Our guests love the Hawkeyes.”

I’m not a fan of it but I’m also on an island and not fond of the alcohol tie ins, especially when using the Trice 5 Bar logo. It is what it is. It’s the reality of what it takes to be competitive these days, for better or worse.

Accurate.

Why is it so easy for Iowa to get these big business to get on board? It ISU it seems like we have to claw and fight to get anything, even when it comes to companies you would associate with ISU. Some companies will flat out only give to Iowa basically saying ISU doesn't matter, while some will throw ISU a bone (Farm Bureau, I'm looking at you) just to keep the piece. ISU has very few companies donors that don't give to Iowa also. They basically discount the ISU and their fans, at the same time they drop their panties for Iowa.

If Blum would have pulled something like this off the media would have a hay day over it. With it being Iowa they won't say much.

I don't know if any of the rest of you have done this, but I always try and make a point to listen to the Iowa radio shows after the Hawkeyes suffer yet another embarassing defeat.

It's some great entertainment.

I couldn't help but notice their radio shows are stocked with ads for what we used to call vices... vapes and oh my goodness so much gambling. I listen to the Iowa State shows and it is almost comically how on the nose about the brand we are with all the agribusiness and fertilizer and etc. ads running.

So... Iowa is for the hicks, Iowa State is for the actual farmers?
