Exactly. TJ did it with our basketball team his first year. Basically told everyone they should leave and find another school. Every coach is doing it now and the players are bolting for NIL.

And I'd guess there's always been a degree of it with any new coaching regime.

I think his goal was to jumpstart the program and bring some fan support back. He's done a fine job of that imo. I'm sure he'll worry about sustainability later.

He's not going to do that every year. I don't think getting talent is going to be a problem for him.

Class of '24 is less than exciting. 9 players. 2 @ 4* the rest 2* and 3*. Recruits are likely concerned he will run them off if they can't play immediately.

Not sure why people say that it’s not sustainable. It’s the exact same thing we have done in basketball the last ten years. Prime got rid of kids that were not high enough level of players. Brought in new transfer players and is getting good recruits now. He did what he had to do to get the team going and bring a winning attitude. They will go bowling in his first year after being dreadful last season. He basically did the football version of what TJ did in basketball for Iowa State

This is why in the NIL pro-ball era I am still somewhat optimistic that will still be able to compete in MBB. I am pretty pessimistic regarding football.

Deion's health will be the only thing preventing him from building a powerhouse program. In the transfer portal era he has the "it" factor with recruits and transfers.

Unfortunately his health issues limit his ability to coach practice the way he would like to.

Okay, playing catchup here and looked that up and just read about his circulation and clotting issues. Wow, that's some pretty daunting stuff.

I wouldn't be surprised if Prime brings in the best talent in the Big 12 every year in the future. I also think he could build CU into a national power. If he does, hopefully he stays because the conference needs that.

What Sanders did isn't sustainable long term. 40% of players who entered the portal ended up without a scholarship. Future recruits will balk at transferring or signing with Colorado if that continues. At some point in order to sustain success Sanders will have to recruit high school players and have the patience to develop them into power 5 level players.

After the spring game Sanders ran off some of the players he brought in. He treated it like an NFL team making roster cuts. Not sustainable.

I'm not doubting you when I ask but I was wondering if you saw an article somewhere talking about his letting go of players that he brought in after the spring? I know he had a bunch leave after spring but didn't realize there some that he brought in and then told them to go. If you know of a link that would be great. If not, understood. Thanks,

Yeah the 'he kicked everyone out' thing is overplayed. He's not the first coach to do it.

Also, in an interview he had a point: if those older players left because of him letting them know he's bringing in guys, and they left instead of stepping up to prove him wrong, they won't work out anyway.

He can't take their schollies away so they could have stayed.

Actually scholarships are year to year things, so technically he could take their scholarships.

I know of a deal with a CU player who left the team but is still on the scholarship to finish school so that aspect must not have been a priority.
