Can I ask a real question? Does sensitivity training really mean anything?
Especially this week with the Iowa gambling stuff coming out. Guess what, those athletes sat thru NCAA training and it said not to, wait for it, not gamble.

What do you propose then? I mean it’s not just the money, his reputation is on display for everyone to pick at and set as an example for, he’s suspended, and he also is going to sensitivity training. How much blood is enough for a thoughtless comment?
I think the entirety of the punishment is fine, I just don’t think the salary reduction in itself is much of anything.

25% from someone making 50k is a lot more impactful than from someone that has been making millions for a decade or more. He’s going to make 3 million dollars this year. Maybe he’ll have to sell some stocks that he otherwise wouldn’t have, but he’s not going to have to worry about rent or food.
That seems like an appropriate outcome for what happened - there’s some pain, but not a loss of basic security.

Suspension (maybe 25% of season) and sensitivity training is enough for me. $1M is a nice addition if it would be donated to LGBTQ. Otherwise it just stays with WV AD.

1 million dollar fine probably hurts but anyone thinking that it effects him too much I totally disagree with. He's a high level college bball coach. I would assume most of them realize their fortunes can change quickly and plan accordingly. He's also made a ton of money over his career.

I think it does because I think it is being conducted by LGBT groups so they don't have as much of an incentive for letting him make it a joke.

Something that just gets more and more crazy to me is that this entire episode (the homophobic slur, insulting Catholics, suspension, becoming a yearly employee, reduced salary, mandatory donations etc.) happened because Huggins either made the whole thing up or exaggerated it so much that he might as well as made it all up. Because none of it makes sense, and no one remembers this happening. Huggins is an ******* and was coach of Xavier's biggest rival. If more than five people did it, people would remember it, it would have been reported on, and probably most Xavier fans would have said they participated

It's honestly more believable that he made the whole thing up so that he could use the slur than that any part of it happened

Because its 25% of his income?

You’re like my 7 year old nephew who just keeps asking “why?” until you’re describing what a molecule is.
My bad… I think I expected a deeper reasoning than “because it’s 25% of his income” so I asked why.

What a harsh punishment that will be for Huggins. He now has to go through all that big trouble of stressing and trying to figure out what to do now that instead of $4M he only has $3M for this year’s salary.

T’s and P’s for Huggy. Hope he pulls through in overcoming such adversity.

If I lost 25% of my salary it wouldn't change my life in any way. I obviously don't know Huggins personally but I bet his salary going from $4 million to $3 million has exactly the same impact on his life as if it went from $4 million to $5 million.

Are you his financial advisor?
If losing 1 million after years of making millions has a major impact on Huggy's financial situation he might need a new financial advisor. Cuz he made some real bad investments.

So everyone wins WV saved a million bucks, Huggy only misses 3 games. It's WV no surprise how that regents and President handled the situation.

No. For some I’m sure it does. But overall no.

I didn’t say it would ruin his life, but it’s a tangible change that he’s going to feel. He probably had that money earmarked for some project that he can no longer invest in.

Yeah, his life isn’t ruined. Do you think it should be? For a word?

I think it completely depends on the person. Especially one who’s goal wasn’t to be offensive.

When I was younger, I made comments that were intended in jest that really offended the other person, and I was truly unaware that they would find it offensive and felt like a prick. Because my goal was to offend, I’d have probably tried to learn something in sensitivity training if I had been to one.

Huggy Bear? He don’t give a **** unless it effects his ability to win.
