Pretty much whatever I was taking at the time. I really didn't like school.

For me it was philosphy 230. The professor made it one of the most intellectually painful classes I ever took. He would ask questions in class like "In your opinion what was the main point of the reading assingment?" and then proceed to berate the student who answered for not agreeing with him. He was a pompous *** and I banished his name from my memory. Waste of time and money. I found the subject itself useless. Anyone who can't think freely for themselves by time they get to college then perhaps they shouldn't be wasting thier time in college? Damn arts and humanities requirement.

I loved my Phil 230 class...Bryan Belknap was the instructor, very cool guy. Kept things interesting and was open to hear all opinions on the readings and lecture materials. Did everything he could to help you get at least a B in the class. Tests could be a little tricky but otherwise phenomenal.

I hate the Bio 255-256 sequence, MWF @ 8am. Yea...I should be there right now but I couldn't find my clicker last night and figure what's the point. The professor pretty much just reads off her slides and the points off clickers (a few years ago these were extra credit---not anymore) are the reason most students bother to show up.

English 104 and 105 were a waste of time. I should have taken the pass out test back then, but my motivation was somewhat lacking my senior year in hs and first year at state.

I bet there was no one better at passing out than you.

gonna have to go with a couple here:

Physics sucked. Took 221, dropped it, took 111, figured out it was just the as hard and I'd still have to take 221, dropped it ... signed up for summer class 221 ... finally passed.

Oh and Electromangetics, a lot of people like Mr Mina, and think he's the second coming of Obama ... I do not.

EM 324 Mechanics of Materials with Leroy Sturges.... I would certainly put him up there for worst prof ever.

I'll also throw a vote out for Differential Equations, bah!

Yeah, Mechanics wouldn't have been nearly as bad if Sturges wasn't teaching it. The material didn't bother me so much - it was the way it was taught.

For some reason I really didn't mind differential equations - as long as it stayed away from the math theory.

As I sit here and stare at my Stat 326 homework, it got me to wondering what class you all dreaded the most. Before now, I'da said Stat 226. Now I'm going hands down with Stat 326.

What do you all despise?

Agreed! I hated the 2 hour computer lab part, talk about something I will never use in real life. Thanks for that memory

There was a 'horseback riding' course I took once in 1990.

hated it.

Those old glue bags really liked to bite when you are not looking.

ISU still have horseback riding?

P E 177 HORSEBACK RIDING 1.0 A

This class was even worse if the prof wrote the book for the class.

Stat 226 at 8 am was worse but that is like making me choose which arm I want to cutoff.

I don't remember the class, but it was an upper level sociology course and the prof had some strange device on her hand from an accident slipping on the ice... Hated it...

That would be Dr. Kathleen Waggoner. She was tough, but eventually became one of my favorite professors.

You're thinking of Kathleen Waggoner. She teaches classes in both Soc and Pol S. Many people find her intimidating because she actually holds students accountable for learning the class material, but she is one of the best and most down-to-earth professors at ISU. For anyone considering law school, taking the Pol S classes she teaches is a must.

Yup, that is the one... The main problem I had with her was the fact that I was taking her class while still playing pro ball, I didn't know anyone inthe class and wasn't going to be there for the first two weeks. She refused to cooperate with me at all, wouldn't put me in touch with someone else in the class, wouldn't email me notes, and wouldn't even send me a syllabus, then I had a test the first day I was there. Every other prof I had while playing ball went out of their way to work with me except her...

Stat 30-something. Worst class... Though at one point, we had a professor from the Chemical Engineering Department sub for a week, the material still was horrible but was taught well.

The stat department had a bunch of TA's teaching classes... They gave it their best, but they still left me bearing some distain for the department as I graduated.

I thought that class was easy.

The one that killed me was Math 166. I just never did get the hang of calc.

Bingo for me except it was Math 166 and Math 267. I was brilliant at Math in HS and on my ACT, but my HS didn't offer Calc so it was brand new to me.

165 wasn't that bad
166 had to take twice
265 wasn't that bad
267 worst grade I ever got in college (D+).

I had the same instructor for 267 and 166 (when I took it the first time) so my struggles may have been more related to the instructor than the class itself.

The first time I took Math 165 I got an F, the second time I got an A. The difference? Style of instruction.

The first guy (I don't remember his name but it was more than 11 years ago now. The only thing I know is he smoked like a chimney and liked to have the class solve "mental problem" riddles - such as Pete was found dead on the floor. The only sign of foul play was broken glass and water was found near the body. What happened?) was only interested in teaching math theory. While I'll admit that is a good way to teach it, not all of us are geared to think that way. And if you didn't subscribe to his teaching of math theory, he really had no time for you. The second time I took it it was taught in a much more traditional sense and I got much more out of the class. It's actually the reason why my MBA-level Econ classes have been so much easier for me (lots of limits and derivatives taught in those classes).
