It's honestly amazing how so many on here aren't in reality when it comes to the tourney. Are we playing crappy? Overall yes but tonight showed us a spark even in a loss.

Whether you agree with it or not, and many will die on this hill saying it's not true, we are making the tourney and we won't be worse than an 8/9 seed.

After the under 8:00 timeout, we shot 4-13 and gave up a five point lead. WVU was 4-7 in that stretch and more importantly, 12-15 on FTs, while we were 2-4. Both teams were in double bonus, yet we only shot 4 FTs in last 8 minutes, while WVU shot 15. So, WVU went last 6:30 without fouling . . . .
Pretty easy explanation on that one. We decided to exclusively take jump shots.

You don’t have to watch if it gets you in your feelings.
As pathetic you clearly think any kind of criticism of any Iowa State athletic event is, it’s at least equally pathetic the way you sit on some ever-knowing smartass perch slinging smug comments at people in a GAME THREAD. It’s a FAN FORUM. Perhaps CycloneGeriatrics or ApatheticClones, or possibly FlacidCloneBoner.com are better sites for your stupid thoughts. And they are legitimately stupid thoughts most of the time.

Something not right how it shook out during the flagrant foul then they get possession.
But we had a chance after that to get up double digits, but misses a bunny & 1 m, if not 2, 3's
Then the drive straight into our defenders - much like how Texas Tech did in the 2nd half against us.
We didn't draw many charges this game either
The worst thing about that sequence was that it prolonged the game. WVU was on the ropes and that 15+ real time minute stoppage in action just allowed them to get their composure back, and the fans fell asleep after. Then the 7 point swing happened. We continued to lead for a few minutes but it was never the same again.

ya. i get it. anything can still happen.

its the insanity of us continuing to do losing things down the stretch by design that is concerning.

Some years are like that too. Last year ISU got worked pretty good for like 38 minutes by WV and then Brockington came up with the ball and a layup late.

In 2015 ISU had some crazy endings to win until it REALLY mattered.

The fact that at one point we were 14-3 overall and 5-1 in the Big 12. Lots of blame to go around
Definitely lacking talent. But what we’ve gotten from Kunc, Grill and Tre King this year is criminal. Not jumping off the TJ train but situationally we are very below average.

The fact is, as much as winning trumps all, offense is what entertains most fans. And being an incredibly inept offensive team is not entertaining to that many people. And I think that goes more so the younger someone is and the less experienced with watching basketball that they are
I've seen people suggest lately with the lackluster crowds that we need to get back to high scoring offenses, and I really doubt that's true. But man, you have to have some minimal offensive competence and we just grind to a halt way too often.

Not saying he was the difference between us losing and winning, but what did he do tonight that could have changed the game around? 0-3 shooting the ball from the field, 2 rebounds, 2 fouls and 2 turnovers.
Grill and Kunc killed us tonight. Untimely technical, missing key FT, and missing wide open 3pts killed us.

This is true!

But so is the fact that the team has not played very well of late! People are being dramatic, but it's just as dramatic to pretend that there's nothing concerning about the team routinely falling apart down the stretch lately.

He just isn't right right now. Physically, mentality, all of it

A criticism this staff definitely deserves is not trying to post up Osun more down the stretch when WVU went small. I don't understand why he was out on the perimeter as a part of their weave action.

I don’t get the narrative that teams have figured us out…so why haven’t we figured out the other teams? The other teams have a coach that adjusts and we don’t isn’t the spin the TJ sunshine and roses crowd thinks it is. 2 years in a row of a late season collapses
In the long run, talent wins out. We aren't very talented. This roster is EXTREMELY flawed and that's being addressed via recruiting BUT TJ is going to have to be willing to change his style up some because this "hope to hold the opponent in the 50s to win" style isn't ever going to work consistently.
