You get one restaurant that’s closed in Ames to come back…

My favorite food in the world is pizza & was an ISU student in the late 80s - so I would pick the following in order:
1. Valentino's (the one behind the mall in its prime)
2. DaVinci's
3. Minsky's

For nostalgia purposes, I cast my vote for Home Team Pizza. I can't say it was overly good pizza nor healthy for you but it was a way of life for college kids in the 90's to early 2000's. I am fairly confident I have permanent scars in my mouth from the grease burns of inhaling the slice of pizza on the way home from the bars.

Testifying
Almost forgot about the dirt cheap beer and burgers at Diamond Dave’s at the mall and the big mugs of beer with chili cheese fries at Indigo Joes.
Diamond Dave's had a salsa/sauce is a ketchup bottle that was great.
Also, them $2 big captain and cokes. Wow

There was an Italian place on Lincoln Way out on the west side of town. I absolutely can’t remember what it was called. The homemade pasta was phenomenal the couple times we went there.

It looks like its a place called Big Wigs Bar now.

What was the joint that had the belly dancers and the flaming cheese? You know, the one where I learned to shout "OPA!"

I'm going to go the Campus Town route and go with the Panchero's on Welch. The El Gordo was a thing of beauty and it's a shame that location ever closed.

Side rant: Panchero's switched to a new hot sauce 5 or 6 years ago and it just isn't the same. Why do places have to mess with a good thing?

West cyde wings. Best damn wings.
Hell. Yes! My brother and I used to go when they had their Tuesday Wing special. We'd get there before happy hour even started, and stay for like 4 hours. Then I'd go back to campus and re-read everything for the music 101 test the following day. I don't know how it worked (since everyone says you need to take the test drunk if you studied drunk) but I aced every test with that formula.

I miss my Golden Wok. Late night Sweet n Sour chicken was the best. I remember having to pick my roommate up and carry him out of the bathroom after he passed out in there.

DiSalvos. Best Philly Cheesesteak you could get without going to Philly.

Was it Angie's? Had a lot of breakfast there that I don't remember.
Sounds about right. When they first opened it was only open late night through the morning. I remember stumbling in there for bacon and eggs at about 5 am one time on our long walk back to Freddy from the apartments near West Towne Pub. Good times!

I always liked Pita Pit on Welch so I was sad when that closed. Sucks mandarin is closed as that was a go to. Most of the rest of these were before my time
