A former Hawkeye black football player that they decided to name the field after only because they were forced to from all the racial allegations against the program from 60-70 former black players.

That's the kinds of things Iowa does to sweep things under the rug. Yeah, we were racist towards our black players.... but we named the field after a former black player now.... so it's all good, right?

Seriously? I've never heard Iowa media ever talk about this person.

I was there just a few rows behind the Iowa bench. Kirk chewed his gum a lot. Other than that I heard lots of boos. A fan threw a beer at X after his touchdown and almost hit Riley Moss instead.

On TV it looked like they were throwing it at Moss for not getting the deflection.

I'm willing to say that some (but not all) Iowa fans are booing the coaches and not Petras directly. But it doesn't matter because they're booing the coaches for not pulling Petras because he's playing terribly. So they're still booing because he's playing horribly. That's not better.

Edit: needed to add "not"

Apart from that just being wrong, is that even something to brag about? It's not like those call-in shows are ever really insightful.
But they are glorious when the Hawks lose. :)

Worst part of the wave is the fans in the stands that wave at the sick kids families are the ones who’s big fancy suburbans are taking up the parking at the hospital ramp, while the parents with the sick kids had to park a couple miles away and take the cam bus to the hospital on game days.

I live in Iowa City and have for 23 years. My oldest son, now 28, grew up here before heading off to ISU and his post college life in Minneapolis. I taught him well - he is vehemently anti-Hawkeye! He tailgated and attended the game yesterday, and he reports this was the most civil CyHawk rivalry game he’s ever seen. No trouble, inside or out, and his tickets were in a Hawk section! He said Hawk fans bitched about the officiating non-stop, but were otherwise very friendly. For what it’s worth…

Yeah, I heard soundoff, the fans were yelling Petras and booing so it was directed at SP. The sound off guys were crying like babies. Major butt hurt. Then Ross verbal slaps @ChrisMWilliams in the face by saying ISU doesn’t have a call in show.
If I were Ross and that fat b*stard Travis I wouldn't hang my hat on being the only call in show that takes calls from all the Merles from wherever in Iowa saying the same sh*t each call such as "That Fareentz needs to get rid of that Petrock kid. We ain't never going to win a National title with that Petrock."

That is such riveting radio -- not.

Yet let’s flag ISU’s bench (normally a sideline warning first) for celebrating thinking they won the game instead of Iowa’s fans being jackasses disturbing the field of play by throwing stuff
Ya that's what I was most pissed about. Give them the ball back with 4th and 5 but that unsportsmanlike call was crap. After the picked up flag, then that? It was pretty convenient.
