I don't think it's a given that we maintain or take a step forward. But I think even if IB leaves, it doesn't have to be a big step back.

I expect Tre King to come in and be a major factor at the 4/5 - he'll provide some offensive and defensive versatility. I expect Hunter to improve, potentially a lot. He already shot a lot better later in the season; it was more of an asset than a liability. In my mind, his biggest area to improve is finishing at the rim and/or drawing fouls, then the next is limiting turnovers. If he does both of those things, I think he could be a 1st team Big 12 player next year.

If those things happen and TJ gets someone who at least is an okay Big 12 starter to replace Brockington, then this team could maintain. Even in that scenario if Hunter doesn't improve as much as I think he could, that team could still compete for the tournament. Especially since the defensive culture is set now, I think the offense next year shows more flexibility and fluidity.
I kinda hope Tyrese changes his shot starting this off-season. Maybe a hard thing to do now. But his shot I think, originates from his chest and is easily blocked or altered. I'd like to see his release point much higher, more wrist, and for him to jump a bit more.

Hopefully he learned some from Isaiah this year and how he could get his shot over almost anyone.

I agree with your points here. I just don’t understand people thinking it’s a given we maintain or take a step forward next year. To your point, we won’t know until summer.

If we have several of our seniors return, land a legit shooting threat/scorer, add King and our freshman class we’re as good or better. We have several seniors leave and don’t backfill with equal talent in the portal and we could really struggle

My only counter to your 2nd sentence 2nd paragraph was that TJ came later last yr and had even less time to figure out the direction he wanted to take the team. It seems from player interviews etc. that he does a really good job of getting his vision across to the players that he talks to. Hopefully this continues and he can build on this yr.

I wouldn't be surprised if maybe Matt T, Niang and Monte might give these guys some pointers during the off season. Monte was special as a PG but all of them really have been amazing to carve out some time in the NBA. THT was just crazy athletic but these other guys really honed their skills to make the NBA.

I could be all wet in this assessment but all of those guys seem to still have quite a love for ISU.

Miami looking good against KU
Hey, well would you look at that! We were down 32-29 at half to Miami. Now 1-seed KU trails 35-29 at half. Mighty KU only has 29 points, too!!! No clue who wins, just sayin' we were beat by a darn good team.

If Miami shot in our game elile they are in this second half, we would have won. That said.... Ku is doing a much better job of preventing second chance points.

I must have gave Miami the kiss of death. They only have 11 second half points so far. Guess KU can play a little of the big12 defense, too!

Three point shot comes back to earth and they fade. Quickly.

I expected that against us as well but it never happened.

I think it sucks that there might be a KU, Duke, UNC, and Nova FInal Four. I really don’t even care who wins at that point. Hopefully, St. Peter can give a glimmer of hope! We will see.

If it's those four I'll root for Nova.
Followed by the trio of blue cheaters KU, then Duke, and lastly Carolina.

That went about as expected. Miami had some firepower, but they were very sloppy. They let us hang around most of the game even though we had an awful night on offense. A good team was going to handle them with ease. Unfortunately that team had to be KU.

I’m no shooting expert and as a wrestler I never even played except for pickup games, so only speaking as a fan and specifically fan of nba greats.

I don’t think he needs to change to a consistently high arching shot, it seems more like the consistency in his release and rotation aren’t there. His game reminds me most of a less airborne D Rose (there is no other d rose) and Rose’s shot was pretty flat those mvp caliber seasons but it was very consistent and he got good rolls on it. It was the same looking shot from anywhere on the floor other than finishing at the rim and there were few better at beating shot clock or end of quarters.
