Does anyone have a clip of the block on Bob that should have been a goal tend? That seemed like a beyond obvious call that was missed.

Look at the monster games (efficiency-wise, at least) from Conditt, Grill, and Jones.

Conditt and Jones both had a TS% of 100% and pulled down a lot of rebounds. These models LOVE guys who generate "garbage" points off offensive rebounds because they are essentially manufacturing their own possession, unlike a guard tossing a shot at a basket which uses up the possession.

Grill is obvious in going 5/7 from three and having basically no other stats despite 25 minutes. I liked TJ's adjustment to keep him in there late and in overtime given he was playing well on defense.

Grill actually had a true shooting of 107%, or 2.14 points every time he took shot.

I know Jackson shows up at as ±0.0 above, but those two late free throws... the first two he took all season, even if he is a career 71.4%... has not played very much, coming in cold late in the game, only out there because Kalscheur just fouled out... and unlike the rest of the team, he completely drains them.

Effective, efficient play from the bench guards and big men won this game. Not trying to take anything away from the big numbers put up by Brockington and Hunter, but both of them were chucking and turnover machines. Somebody had to make up for Kalscheur going 0/6 three, and Grill and Jackson did it.

I'm sorry guys but K-State isn't dancing. They didn't beat anybody in their non-conf and the loss to Kansas at home was their last shot at a signature 1-A win.

Yeah, they beat Tech and Texas but the NIT is full of teams like that who had a few really strong wins here and there.

TCU has a good record but their resume is really thin right now and they have one of the hardest remaining schedules. The most likely scenario is them or Oklahoma takes the 7th spot and the remaining two go to the NIT.

Too early to rule KState out, imo. They 'should' have beat KU and did beat a hot Tech team at the time. Bigger chances they won't, but I think they have too many opportunities for quad 1 wins left due to the conference strength.

Three point shooting thru 20 games:

Jaz .487 2.0 shots/game
Grill .404 4.5
IB .395 2.2
TE .375 0.4
TJ .362 2.9
Gabe .248 5.5
Hunter .224 3.8

I'm really okay with Gabe not taking more than a couple '3's a game, maybe just an end of the shot clock have-to '3'. He has the ability to score in other ways and I think it could help us.
Hunter needs to just do what he's doing.....keep working on it and take the obvious wide-open ones. Definitely better at top of key than he is baseline.

I agree but Hunter and Brockington were clutch down the stretch. Brockington was doing some hero-ball in the second half when the offense was stagnant, but he was a stud down the stretch. All in all, it was a great game to win and a punch to the gut to the loser.

It's too early to rule anybody out at this point because mathematically every team still has 8-10 games left not including conference tournaments.
Just because they have alot of opportunities left doesn't mean a team like that will win a majority of them .
Baylor has plenty of "opportunities" to finish 10-8 in the conference also but it's not good odds.

Hopefully Gabe's three point attempts go down when he sees that he's not hitting them early. We need him on the court to play great D, distribute the ball, drive the lane, and focus more on mid-range jumpers.

I agree with this. I am not trying to take anything away from Brockington and Hunter last night (and Kalscheur, who did not have a turnover but did go 0/6 from three and 0/4 from the line, which is effectively eight wasted possessions just as much as eight turnovers). Putting together a team of low-volume but high-efficiency players oftentimes does not work because you do not know what is going to happen in a real game when one of them has to step up, take a ton of contested shots, and keep making them despite the defense keying on you and with the game on the line over and over again. Brockington does that and did that.

But Brockington is not Kobe Bryant. He is good but not good enough to hero ball a team to victory very often. You have to have some balance between volume and efficiency, and the efficiency portion of that came mostly from Grill, Conditt, and Jones last night. I swear every one of Grill's threes was in response to a three hit by Oklahoma State, all of them feeling like a backbreaker before Grill hit one right back at them. Conditt and Jones fighting on the boards, generating extra possessions for themselves and the offense, and not turning the ball over very much was all necessary to make up for Brockington forcing a lot of stuff up and throwing it away.

Anybody else notice how much flatter of a trajectory CG has on his 3's than Gabe. Idk if that in of itself is a better technique or not, but the results have obviously been significantly different

Gabe has kind of a slow release rainbow. I would say from a technical standpoint Gabe’s trajectory would be the “preferred” trajectory of the two.

I've got to say that I've really been pleasantly and surprisingly impressed with how well Rob Jones has been playing in the Big 12 games so far. He's not (and shouldn't be) our first option on offense, but I think he's doing a lot of the little things well that don't get noticed until you look at the box score. 5 assists to 1 turnover in 15 minutes is pretty good for a backcourt player; it's downright awesome for a back-up big man.

You have to remember the ACC is like a three bid league so that opens up at least 5 bids. The committee has shown time and time again that they will favor a K-State type over a mid major.
