Sitting in on a meeting for yet another new client. They run some software that has been out of support for years.
I see it all the time, huge companies that continue to run on the cheap.

Growing up we never had spicy food (hot spicy) as it was something my mother didn't like. So when I moved away it was an entirely different experience for me.
I'm not sure if I had ever even had chili until I was an adult.

Been following the peanut allergy thread, and my mind tracked to a silly issue that I have. It is in the food group, but not an allergy, and not nearly as severe as the peanut allergy being discussed, but here's my question:

If I request "no pickles" on my burger (I HATE pickles and pickle flavor), WHY do restaurants think it is okay to take the burger back, take the pickles off, and bring it back to me? Don't they understand that the pickle juice has already permeated the burger and/or the bun???

So you're saying you order it with no pickles and it comes with pickles which they then remove?

No restaurant worth its salt should think that is okay.

Is it better to just have them detop the bun, remove the pickles, put the top back on in front of you? I guess that would cut some of the pickle juice leaching out.

I've found the same thing with onions. I don't like onions in/on most things and can tell when they just go in and pick them off an already made burger or something. That's another flavor that just lingers and doesn't go away with the simple removal of the onion.

I would just lie and say you're allergic to pickles initially if you hate pickles that much

Actually, that's a bad plan, although I'm pretty sure you are being facetious. There are a lot of people that actually do that; claim gluten allergies or other allergies when they just don't like something. Costs the restaurants a bundle...which of course gets passed on in the price of foods.

And yeah, I DO hate pickles that much. Don't like the smell, the flavor, or the texture. So I send it back. And if they just pluck the pickles off, I insist on a fresh, pickle free burger or my money back.

If you're going to potentially have them remake it then no I wasn't being facetious at all. I'd assume that remaking a burger costs more in food costs then having them be extra cautious to not let pickles touch any of your food.
