I tip my hat to the Cyclones. Great effort - represented us all well. All 9 guys that played contributed some positives. Enaruna is starting to show why he was so heralded.

Fraschilla's comment about Akinjo being a college Kyle Lowry was so true. That squad is goooood and ISU showed me that they are going to win some games in a tough conference.

We've got to shoot the ball better but a lot of our 7% from 3 had to do with shooting contested shots.

Didn't get hardly any breaks
Gabe, Hunter and Kunc with less than best on O
1-16? From 3
Hunters first Big12 game
Took #1 full 40 mins
Baylor had 5+ difficult makes after tough D for 25-28 seconds
=
Coming up 5 pts short

I'm all in boys. Nothing but proud of these kids and this staff. Keep grinding.

PS
And Gabe, keep shooting with confidence. We need you.
Gave was just bad today. No points, 5 fouls, 5-6 turn overs. He’ll not have that line again.

Rest of the league is going to pack the Lane and make somebody beat them from deep, it’s going to be a slog

They keep refilling the pipeline with guys that are a perfect fit for their system. Outstanding scouting.

I agree. And dare I say this team is just as skilled if not a tad bit more skilled than last years NC squad.

What I can’t wait to see is who our coach brings in in the coming years. The future is bright.

Only real complaint was the 3 and FT shooting. Someone has to put the ball in the hoop if you want to win the number of conference games we need.

Overall hard to be upset with playing them close. Baylor’s the #1 team for a reason

having the students probably would have been good for 5 points IMO.
in games like this:
We shot like garbage which can't happen, but Baylor's defense is good.. Grill has to knock down a couple of those tho.
Gabe needs to be better for these games.

good effort today though. last year this would have been a 30 point blow out.

Tough loss, but I am reminding myself today that last year at this time, I had already slogged with the Clones through a bunch of uninspired basketball, and was still in line for 18 straight losses.

I'm good where we're at so far.

We coulnt hit a shot outside 4 feet and still hung in there. Hell of an effort. Was that 48 points in the paint.

Had you told me Baylor would shoot 50% on the day and over 40% from three while we shot 7% from three I would have told you we lose by 20. The fact this was within 5 with under four to play tells me how good our team is and can be.
And the TOs.

Play like that and we'll have a chance in every game.

The downside is, although Baylor has a great defense (tops in Big 12), do we end up saying this often? One would think 1-14 is anomalous, but there is no question that we are limited on offense imo

It sucks the students weren’t there. The crowd was great for a non-student crowd but it was noticeably quieter on defensive possessions. I get why the conference made ISU burn a home game against a top team with no students (worst team in the conference last year) but I hate it that the students weren’t there to disrupt Baylor. It may have been the difference for the good guys to steal one against an elite team.

Not sure I see a top-10 team here long term, but I still see a tournament team. An average, or even slightly below average, 3-pt day wins that game. The rest of the pieces were there.

Our defense was worse than usual on paper. Some of that was Baylor making some well-defended shots and some was our guys looking a little gassed at times. Very tough game, our team is gritty and fought it out to the end.

100% agree!! He played well on defense just shots weren’t falling and appears to have made him press on offense with some passes. He needs to be on the court for defense if nothing else. Offense was hard to come by for most of the team today not just him.
