4 points for Nader last night in 11 minutes in the Suns' win over Portland. He was effectively the Suns' 9th man in that game.

Matt Thomas got off the bench in the last minute of the Bulls' win.

Monte had 10 PT on 4-10 shooting in 30 MIN last night as the Nuggets beat the Pacers without Jokic. I was hoping that as a starter, he'd average closer to 15 but his scoring numbers look like last year's figures when he was coming off the bench.

I'm not surprised. They have a lot of scoring (including the MVP) in that first unit. I think they expect him to look to distribute more than score.

A little regret, Utah? Maybe you should've paid him ...

SLC Dunk looks at the Jazz' decrease in 3-pt shooting from last year's team (the most 3s in NBA history, BTW) to this year and cites Georges' departure as a contributing factor:

The Jazz have also seen significant decreases in three-point shooting percentage from key shooters like Bojan Bogdanovic and Royce O’Neale, and are feeling the absence of Georges Niang who left in free-agency (and has been absolutely killing it in Philly, congrats Georges).

I watched the 76ers' game last night and they're getting closer to a full roster, though still missing Simmons, Embiid and Thybulle. Even with Green, Curry and Harris back in the lineup, Georges got some decent minutes although you can already see that he's not looked upon to score as much with those 3 back on the court. They dropped a close one - their 3rd L in a row - vs. Toronto and now they have a tough road trip out West.

Georges was kind of cold with his shooting. He still put the ball on the deck decisively to create last night but he did fall once, get stripped another time and had his shot rejected a different time. Still, he produced a useful stat line: 21 MIN, 7 PT, 3-8 FG, 1-4 3PT, 1 REB, 4 AST, 1 STL and 1 TO.

The next week is reunion week for Georges as he plays against his two former employers and then Monte. His return to Utah on Tuesday is on TNT; I'm sure he'll get a nice welcome back from the Jazz crowd.

I'm traveling starting on Saturday; not sure how much time I'll have to watching / posting about NBA hoops.

Tyrese Haliburton is listed as "questionable" tonight vs. OKC due to back problems. He may miss his 2nd-straight game.

In general, guards associated with ISU didn't have a great night shooting but there were some wins (and some losses).

Monte started in Denver's win vs. Atlanta and played his usual 30 minutes. He had 8 PT on 4-13 shooting but added 5 REB, 4 AST and only 1 TO.

Hali DID play in spite of his tight lower back but the Kings blew a big lead in the 2nd half to lose to OKC. Tyrese also had 8 PT on 3-13 shooting but did have 8 REB and 7 AST with only 1 TO.

Nader got some extra run in the Suns' blowout of Memphis and put up his best scoring night of the season, all from the 3rd quarter. He ended with 10 PT in 18 MIN on 4-5 / 2-2 shooting, with 4 REB, 1 AST, 2 STL and a BLK. Dooley -- stuffing the stat sheet. It's good for him, too, because his shooting percentage were really low so far.

And, finally, Matt Thomas is in the books for the Bulls, registering 2 points in 4 minutes of mop-up duty in the Bulls' big loss to Golden State.

Based on comments below from the Twitter-verse, it seems like Talen Horton-Tucker's debut was a strong one. His line: 17 PT, 27 MIN, 7-14 FG, 1-5 3PT, 2-2 FT, 4 REB, 1 AST, 1 STL, 1 BLK and 2 TO. The Lakers held off San Antonio for the W.

For a guy not known for his D at ISU:

D. McDermott, who spent more years in Ames than THT, started and had 8 for San Antonio.

Was in high school not long ago, in Ames for a year and now was in a starting lineup that included Russell W, A. Davis, and Melo.

Monte had an efficient night in a Denver blowout of Portland in which subs played most of the 4Q. His line: 15 PT, 24 MIN, 7-12 FG, 1-4 3PT, 7 REB, 4 AST, 3 STL, and 0 TO. I believe that was only his 2nd game of the season without a turnover.

Monte is shooting about 30% from 3PT, with a career mark of around 38% so let's hope that goes up.

Denver is 9-4 and 3rd in the West, which is solid considering they're missing bucket-getter Jamal Murray.

Nader had 1 PT for Phoenix in a big win over Houston. He consistently plays the 10th-most minutes on that squad unless someone is out. PHX is 2nd in the East.

No PT for Matt Thomas for the Bulls on Sunday.

Tyrese stuffed the stat sheet in the Kings' easy win over the Detroit Fightin' Garzas. His line: 35 MIN, 17 PT, 7-11 FG, 3-3 3PT, 2 REB, 10 AST, 2 STL, 1 BLK and 5 TO. A little high on the TOs but 3-3 from 3PT still gives him great efficiency.
