I’ve seen worse games, I’ve seen worse calls, but all of the improbable things that happened during this game, with all the implications on the line, I haven’t been this mad after a game in a long, LONG time
Agree. This year we needed to prove we could take that next step. In my mind, not at least making it back to the CCG would mean this year was a failure. The unfortunate reality is that our ceiling was probably last year with this team and they're proving it. We are a good-not great team.

There was not conspiracy. There were some bad calls, but they were close.

1. Replay officials were too chicken-sh*t to overturn on the field calls on both the Hall TD and the WV non-TD - Agree but we didn't play well enough on those plays to ensure they were overturned.
2. WV got hosed on a couple of PI calls too. Yes, on key plays too. Likely cost them some points.
3. Purdy and Hall are warriors and gave it their all. Agree, all time greats so sad they won't win a CC!
4. We miss Rose more than I ever imagined. Yep, that was obvious. Thought we were a "next man up" program but not yet, Horne did not play well - Gog bless him.
5. Young was abused all day long. OMG, how many times was he picked on, 10-12 times. I love him, long time contributor, but we don't have anyone better???
6. I'm terrified what the D will look like next year with Vance, Hummel & McDonald gone also. I am an optimist! Funny how a new crew responds.
7. I'm afraid Campbell knows what we're losing also and will start listening to those offers this off season.
. Nothing we can do about it, but he should be winning games like this with the talent we have. NOT winning in the margins by any means!

If I can add a positive, I do actually think that Manning's play-calling has improved. I thought he called a pretty solid game in the last two wins and he put the Clones in a position to win today. While the offense wasn't perfect, they caught some tough breaks (officiating) and the defense wasn't quite as locked in. The offensive play-calling was good enough to win today and has been for almost an entire month now.

Now, I don't know what that means for Manning long-term, but it's at least nice to see he's building some positive momentum if we're really stuck with him long-term.

If it makes anyone feel better Baylor beating Texas today pretty much put us out of the Big 12 CCG anyways. No way they are losing 2 more games.

He obviously is the best coach Isu has had by leaps and bounds but no reason to grant him sainthood for going 7-5 most years. If he wants a bigger payday then he can leave.

What about ISU's history says that a 7-5 coach isn't the best coach we've had? Also, 7-5 is an exaggeration. He's won 7 once. Every other time after that first season has 8+ wins. Also, beaten 4 top ten teams, which is more than the rest of his predecessors combined. More weeks in the top 25 too.

Don't be an idiot and pretend Campbell isn't the best we've ever had. If he stays, we'll have more years where we have a great chance to win 10+ games. Recruiting classes have improved, and when the ceiling is 7 wins, then the sky's the limit. It's the Wisconsin basketball model.

I was born in 1986... do you know how many 7 or more win seasons we've had between when I was born and Matt Campbell? A whopping 5. Since he's gotten here, if we include this year, it will also be 5. So in 6 years, he's matched as many 7+ win seasons as we've have in the last THIRTY FIVE YEARS. Get over yourself, and appreciate Matt's excellence.

At this point, I hope ISU wins one more game (TCU) or two more (+@ Texas Tech) to be Bowl eligible (6-6) or (7-5). It will take beating Texas to be (8-4) and I don't even want to think about @ Oklahoma.

Regardless of how the record shakes out, the Big Bowls are gone. Liberty is the ceiling now IMO. So, they might as well end up in Arizona for Brock to play his last game there, beat a B1G team and go to (4-0) in Arizona Bowls!

I'm not a gambler, but for the life of me, I do not understand why Iowa State has been favored in every game including the 7 point spreads @ Baylor and @ West Virginia. Anybody not taking the opponent and points against Iowa State every week is not moneying well - as ISU is now (3-5) ATS as a FAVORITE in all 8 games.

Texas @ Iowa State should be a pick 'em, as neither one of them should be favored to win.

That being said, Let's Go State!

None of the remaining schedule is scary including at OU.

But ISU being so rickety makes the rest of the games feel pretty 50/50ish.

That's the way it pretty much always is FOR A LOT of teams. Not just us. Most ranked teams have the same thing.

Maybe it is because we haven't been a really good program before that we just assume that every one of those breezes through their schedule and have no hiccups.

Better than, "well now we can just play spoiler to Texas and Oklahoma" comments ive seen all over here.

Yay, we can play spoiler just like Kansas now.
Wait, you are comparing ISU to Kansas football? I know you have some thought provoking comments, but this one I am having a hard time getting my arms around.
