Off the grid
Nice drive by Cousins. He's actually done that several times this season. One ended with a Cook fumble and the other was a missed chip shot field goal.

I have thought many times “That is the most Viking thing ever.” And then they just outdo themselves again and again.

I was at the game and decided to start heading out after Goff took back to back sacks with about 4 mins left...

...and watched the last minute of the game on the light rail via phone. Whoops.

I'll take the dub, though. Ignorance of the terrible football between is sort-of bliss, I guess.

I kind of agree on Spielman. But Zimmer's calling card is defense. If he can't get well paid, proven vets to perform.. He needs to leave. My biggest issue with Spielman is his draft picks in round 1

View attachment 90555

Reaches far too often for needs and doesn't take BPA or players at positions that hit at a higher rate. Stop taking first round corners with Zimmer who doesn't have the patience to groom. GO sign vets instead

Ponder pick was horrific and such a reach
Kalil was a consensus good pick that didn't work. It was a brutally bad draft after the Luck, Griffen and Kalil
Smith was a borderline HOF pick
2013-2014 drafts were awesome. The biggest issues were coaches missusing talent (ZImmer issue) and bad injury luck
Trae Waynes was OK. But I think it was zimmer issues more than reaching
2016-2019 was REALLY bad. Horrible reaching for positions of NEED not BPA.
2020 draft is a home run without Gladney. Would be a grand slam had Gladney not been a women beater
2021 was widely praised for trading back 9 spots to get the same player you wanted at 14. We shall see how Darrisaw looks once he enters play. Reserve judgement until after several starts. Only wish was Slater and Sewell were obviously the best tackles. Would have love to go bet them as they both look sooo good
Half of Spielman’s first round picks I would label as busts. He had no input on Ponder IIRC.
Edit: you are correct. He was GM for the Ponder draft year. He’s horrible. Always has been.

Him and mike are short for the world with the Vikings in my opinion
Are Rick and Zimmer a package deal? I wonder how much of the endless CB bust picks and huge contracts to defensive players while they've had years with a practice squad level OL has been Zimmer pushing for it.

The Vikings are still 8th in the league in cap allocation to the defense and 19th in offense. Interestingly enough they are 9th in scoring defense and 19th in scoring offense. In yds/g the offense is better and the defense worse. So it will be interesting to see how it plays out, but it looks like neither unit is really over/under performing, and they are even in TO margin. Basically it's the recipe for a .500 team unless something changes. And I'd say losing to Cincy and Arizona probably means more like a 7-9 team. They should beat the Panthers and come out of the buy 3-3, but then the schedule has a really tough stretch.

Zim coaches the players provided to him, so I'd say yes.

Sure, but GMs are fired independent of coaches and vice versa. Over the last couple of "Black Mondays" more often than not one or the other was fired, not both.

This win was pointless and the staff needs to go. They are stale, and unimaginative. Not much of an identity on offense at all so not really sure what Kubiak is doing. Need to start fresh and get some energy into this franchise. Ain't winning a damn thing with this current staff.

This right here. What is their identity? What are they really good at? Are they original or innovative? Will they ever be able to beat 3 great teams in a row? If not, time to move on. Will always be mediocre at best.

I know it was one game.. But Darrisaw needs to start every healthy down for the remainder of the season...

Looking forward.. If this offense can settle the LT position.. We are really only 1 piece away from being ELITE. Upgrading from Bradbury is the #1 priority and a new offensive minded coach would be GREAT! I hope the Wilfs are already courting Brian Daboll (Bills o-cordinator). He's young, on offense and is a Belichick disciple. Sign me up

The defense way lose Hunter this offseason, which means a complete rebuild around Smith and Kendrick's. Someone with fresh eyes and plays a modern defense would be awesome. Bring on the 3-4

With 5mins left and the game up 10, I muttered "got to drive and score here or it gets ugly." Basically a 3 and out, followed by a minor sign of life Detroit fg. Then the drive with 2:30 left, Zim should've been fired on the spot, YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME!.

I have been a hardcore Kirk hater, and still am (nice drive to take this Lions game back though), but its now very clear to me that coaching is the main issue. Bye Zim.

If the cousins experiment is to continue, it has to be with a new coach, and might as well do it now, this season is a loss anyways.

Took a last second fg... That is not impressive. Even this team should beat Detroilet handily. This team is headed nowhere so why wait until the end to can some people and head a new direction?
