Regarding the benching…..

Benching Purdy made sense to me coaching wise. Give Dekkers a shot. See if the team rallies behind him. They did.

Benching Xavier was also justified. The deep ball was underthrown by Purdy, but he needed to make an adjustment and fight for the ball and i put part of that INT on him. And the drop that he tipped for the INT is also fully on him. I haven’t seen this said by many, but a big part of the Purdy interception problem was Hutchinson.

Benching Hall did not make sense to me at all. He responded well to the fumble. He came out with a little extra fire the next possession that he played. So why then did he later get benched? Im glad we got Sanders some reps cuz he looked good, but Hall never came back in. That made it feel like we quit, rather than trying to spark the team to rally.

Yesterday was the weirdest dynamic since 2017 Texas Jacob Park game. Benching Purdy made sense. The other guys, man that was a bit of a shock. Definitely something going on inside the walls that is not good. Hopefully it can be purged fairly quickly.

live with it
Would it be that bad? Retain Heacock and get a real OC.

But I doubt you’re correct, this is the same ****, different year.

And nothing keeps you at Iowa St faster than these types of performances against UNI, Iowa , Drake even

It certainly was weird Purdy got jerked when he did, especially when you consider the Baylor game last year. I'd like to assume its because he has a lot of confidence in Dekkers. Doesn't mean he plans to start Dekkers anytime soon, just that he wanted to try something else. I don't believe Matt would quit on anybody, it goes 100% against his character. Seeing the title of the thread angers me.

I can't hear the questions on the video from CFTV of the post game press conference, As I was watching/listening, I don't know how many times Matt took the rap for prep, game plan, lack of execution etc. claiming "its a Matt Campbell issue". I believe he will get the team back on track.
I wish he would learn that a special teams coach is needed so it's at least not a liability.

Brock doesn't have a NFL arm. He's not a pocket QB either. It's nothing against him, but we aren't scheming to his strengths.
Agree, no reason for a defense to worry about us going deep until we start burning them and then what's the likelihood we'd do it more than once.

I don’t think Matt Campbell has a quitting bone in his body. This is a ridiculous thread. If guys arent getting it done/taking care of the ball you give new guys a chance. While doing that it also sends a message to those guys who weren’t executing quite as well. Love our coach and every one of those players…. Fans saying the players listened to the hype and are entitled is crazy. These kids (yes kids) bust their butts. It’s the fan base that has been crying all day. Upset when the team didn’t play well…. Remember when that was expected???
You and a few others get it!
Thank you for this post.

Benching Hall made no sense to me. Maybe for a possession, but not the rest of the game. The logical answer to that is that Campbell weighed the risk of injury to him against the chance to win and decided to sit him. If it was about taking care of the ball he wouldn’t have gone back in after the fumble. The benching of Hall felt more like he decided to keep Hall healthy and let the team lose and fight another day. Thats not quitting on the team, but it is deciding that the risk isnt worth the reward. And those dont look that different

Never know, but kind of a bad look for a coach to have all these kids come back that love playing for him with the opportunity of this season just to check out.

Seems like we have a lot of people speculating on what CMC was thinking when pulling some of the first team ers but did anyone ask or did he say what his reasoning was?
