Stoops has beaten a ranked team every year since being hired as head coach. What's not to like?

well, Losing against NMU, Standford, ASU (before the last game). I don't know about things at your school, but after 5 years we really thought we can beat those teams.....Although Cal was ranked, but they where pretty bad.

For everyone who is bashing Mike Stoops do you even know what you are talking about?

Arizona was his first head coaching job, he started his first two years 3-8 and progressed after that getting more wins over better teams. what do you expect for a coach getting his first shot at HC. Just like with Iowa State he isn't going to have the players that he wants nor is he going to have great recruits from the start, but he helped progress that program forward and has solid players now and he already has a fantastic list of young guys already committed for next year

Stoops has ties with the midwest and will get great recruits here, especially with his name. Stoops will start getting some of the better young guys around Iowa and Illinois and will still be able to snag west coast recruits which we desperately need more of.

This would be an excellent hire, and who cares if he is an Iowa guy that has nothing to do with him now, there is no negative to it only positive in which he will be able to get great recruits from the area.
He is a smart and passionate guy who will have motivation to stick it to Iowa and win our rivalrys

also this
"Each year at Arizona, he has had wins against teams in the top 25. In 2004 against #20 Arizona State, 2005 against #7 UCLA, 2006 against #8 California, and 2007 against #2 Oregon."

He can win the big games with the players he wants
It's what our program and fans need

Mike Stoops is our man

Thats How Arizona saw him, but there is a double edge sword. He lacks on the field coaching ability (maybe he can grow more), but he can't keep Arizona from playing to the level of their opponents. Aka NMU loss and Standford loss. Most of us Arizona fans think that Stoops HAD to make a bowl game based of the schedule we had this year. The schedule should have produced more wins, and maybe even second place. He doesn't win all big games, out of 5 years he has only beaten our heated rivals ASU twice, and took 4 years to understand the hate we have for them.

Also if Stoops has great success here, I don't think he'll bolt. He would stay for at least 5 years.

who cares about overall record it's irrelevent

He has been having winning seasons as of late and that's what matters
is he having 10 win seasons? no of course not he hasn't been there long enough
this **** doesn't happen over night, but he is a good coach and has been showing that, he is maturing and putting great things in place at Arizona
it doesn't take a genius to see this

you people really should know this by now

How come all the Stoops fan never point to his overall record?

Dan McCarney is the most successful coach in ISU history and his overall record is a disaster. It's not the end all, be all. Stoops took over a struggling AZ program and steadily improved them.

So we should ignore his other 4 years and focus on his best year where he was barely over .500 and not wanted in a down Pac10. OK, that makes sense.

jesus christ man he wasn't there long enough to build the program to greatness
he was barely there in a program that wasn't any better to begin with
he is winning, do you think anyone in the country could bring Iowa State to a 10 win season in less than 5 years?

you are delusional

Does everyone ignore Kirk Ferentz's first two years at Iowa? Yes. Do they focus on their one year where they made an Orange Bowl run? Yes. Makes sense.

For the Arizona Wildcat visitors, thanks for stopping by!

What is Mike Stoops like for off-the-field football matters? For example, building relationships with Arizona high school coaches, doing public relations events, attending local booster club events, summer camps, interactions with fans, etc?

Honestly University of Arizona has terrible Arizona ties it seems. Never can land that big Arizona Recruit. He has a t.v. show (which looks so awkward, he is uncomfortable in front of a camera). Honestly I personally haven't heard of what Stoops does outside of football. I'm sure he does some booster events, and sometimes makes it out for the Football rallies on Fridays. Summer camps? not sure if there is one. Interactions with fans? also seem pretty limited.

Overall, hes ok. No problems off the field, but the excitement about him is also not that high. He would probably feel more comfortable in the Midwest than in the west. Different kind of beast out here.

Could you find it in your heart to try and make him feel more comfortable out there? We really want our football team to be successful and see Mike Stoops as the Jack Kevorkian of college football coaches.

I guess I don't understand why you Arizona fans don't like him. According to your other statement about your previous coach, you have very hostile feelings toward all of your head coaches.

Its kinda like this, you have a girl friend who cheats on you, so you leave her. Then you find another girl who is ok, but has tantrums, does things she isnt suppose to do, ect.ect.. Should you just settle or move on?

I thank him for the recruits and getting us to a bowl game, but as i said in the Arizona forums. We need to separate for the best of both parties. Arizona needs to move forward and Stoops needs to leave Arizona behind and move forward.

Honestly, I would be more excited about V2 stoops than the V1 we got.

This is very true. Stoops has made our backs really good. Except for miscues ever once in awhile and that debocale against Oregon state, they have done well. We haven't double teamed a single player this year, including USC (which could be bad), Our secondary will be stout for the coming years.
