I don't like that. Not worth it. That's what led us to where we are. That isn't a conference. At some point, it won't be good enough, and they'll leave (or at least UT will). Pull off the Band-Aid and let's move forward.
Having the players at the table, at least enables the others time to make better decisions.

Big 10 is obviously best case scenario for both money and stability.

BIG is best and makes the most sense so it probably doesn't happen, but should. From a logistics standpoint the even the process of getting all the gear to games would be easier and less costly.

Unrelated - will these kids even need to go to school?

see texas was gonna have the invite all wrapped up for leverage and then get the rest of the b12 to take a non incentive based pay system that would rig the game no matter what, but tamu screwed it all up by leaking, now the big 12 could agree to incentive based tiered payment system which would trickle to other conferences, which the majority of other conference members dont want, or the big 10 can keep equal distributions, pick up old big 8 to stop tiered, send texas to the sec to get clobbered, isu may be in the drivers seat based on what JP decides, hard to believe i know

I approve of the Machiavellian reasoning in this post.

big 12 is doing exactly what u say, we need to play double agent, u offer texas more publically, base on something like on field performance and ratings, something isu could get to 3rd in if cmc stays, big 10 panics because tosu and others will then want the same thing in next round negotations, so to stop they panic, divorce ou from ut, pick up old big 8, send texas to sec to rot in alabamas sewer, so old big 8 tricks non texas big 12 leftovers to go along, but only to gain leverage to get in big10, and screw texas
Finally, a chess player!

No doubt. We're all just guessing. I'd rather put myself in the shoes of the Big 10 to get a better idea of where I think ISU might end up. Unfortunately I can't think of one reason I'd add ISU if I was trying to keep up with the SEC.
Well, assuming that SEC is stopping at 16 with OU and UT. That leaves the assumption that we are headed to 4 conferences of 16 teams. If that's the case PAC 12 will add 4 and B1G will add 2. If you are these 2 conferences who would you go after of the remaining 8 teams in the Big XII or a G5 school? In this scenario Iowa State checks every bylaw. In the footprint, AAU school, etc. Not to mention natural rivals that draw people to the TV.

Other than that, no, B1G doesn't add ISU to move the needle like the SEC did. This would strictly be a move to get to 16 with the best options without strings. Frankly I could see OSU, Michigan, and Clemson joining the SEC before we get invited to the B1G.

My personal view is the B1G will not rush to add two teams. I think they will be patient. With that said, and realizing I am new to this board, there are posters on here that sound pretty confident in their sources saying OU/UT stay or ISU goes to B1G.

It’s not about conferences anymore, it’s about positioning for Media Entities. I’m actually of the opinion that they have to move quick. The TX/OU move was such a large shift, that ESPN will be way ahead. Any delay kills the brand daily, and what kills the brand kills potential profits. B1G/PAC is going to get slammed each minute for not immediately picking up the leftovers to match the move, eroding what little support the leftovers have for being added in the first place. Now that 16 is here, they all need to go to 16.

Please don't let the Big 12 give away the store in an attempt to kiss Oklahoma and Texas's asses.

Hope we're still exploring our options.

I'd feel differently if it were ALL of the ADs and presidents, not just UT/OU and a select few conference officials.

I agree - especially since it is 2 schools from Texas

The only way this could be good is if there is a renegotiated TV contract that gives Texas and OU the $ they want, and at least keeps the other 8 schools at the current amount and hopefully higher. Pretty hard to put the toothpaste back in the tube at this point so we'll see what happens.

Yeah, this just seems like a relationship that's over. Better to rip off the bandaid now than have this inevitably come up in a few years again.

At this point you have to think that OU and TX are frantically negotiating with the SEC so they can announce as soon as possible.

I can't imagine them just staying in the Big 12 after this.
