With B10 money I think we can make hockey happen within a few years. Already have two good club teams. But the city of Ames/ university need to invest in one more sheet of ice. Which the current ice arena can accommodate. It was designed to expand.

I can't see not having a sport whether it is Hockey, Baseball gymnastics or water polo won't be the hold up. ISU can add a sport to join a conference and big 10. ISU will get the OU/TX buyout some and then in this case BiG money/media exposure moving forward. Plus ISU wouldn't move immediately so can set up what ever program in the next couple of years to meet their requirements.

Hilton. That’s were Murdock’s teams started playing before the arena. It’s possible. Especially now that basketball has a practice facility as that was where most of the conflicts were.
Well Ohio State makes it work - that's the only program I can come up with that plays in the basketball arena.
But the OSU arena is much more modern that Hilton too.
Just saying that if we had NCAA hockey right now you'd - have all the Big Ten hockey schools with ISU at the top of their list.

I attended a hockey game in Hilton in the late 80's. It is feasible, though I don't know why we are so ******* fixated on whether you can play hockey in Hilton when the ******* Big 12 is being blown to bits. Whether ISU gets into the B1G or not is not going to have a damn thing to do with hockey. I thought Tornado Man would at least be continuing his fellating of Tom Osborne somehow.

I would like to add some sports.
Just looking at our "peer" schools in the Big Ten - Purdue has 10 men's sports, Mich State has 12, Penn State has 16, Illinois has 10. And we have just 7.
Those schools I would think would be key allies for us if we ever do come under consideration.

Travel would be so much better, we could do Mens and women’s hockey, m/w pistol shooting, field hockey and men’s soccer. Think that would work out.

Do you think ISU could ever justify building a hockey arena like UNO? I have no idea what fan interest is like when you aren't in traditional hockey places. They have pretty good facilities for a small city school. I like what they've done there.

Hockey is kind of awkwardat the Schottwnstein Center but in five years I bet men’s hockey has their own arena. The pace that they build new **** on that campus is insane.

Anyone care to give any insights into the type of information being shared/discussed on the premium board re this subject? Daily updates? Any nuggets? Wondering if it's worth the bump...
I won't divulge too much information but Chris has been giving daily updates with what he's hearing.
Mentioned today how JP, Campbell, and Otz are handling it and what they're doing right now.

Most hilarious outcome: this is all an OU troll and they balk and the Big 12 stays as is. Texas loses all sway in the conference.
Or even better, UT leaves, OU backs out, phones AM and Missouri, says "they're gone now" and they come back home, and we add BYU.

Bucky plays in the Kohl Center.

Like you said, way more modern.

#1 pick just came from Michigan and I can't tell you the last time a college player was picked first.

They had 3 of the Top 5 (weak draft year though) including Johnson to CBJ. He’s a talent but the CoVID year made it tough to evaluate anywhere, especially Europe.

Michigan is actually the big dog in B10 hockey right now.
Not related, but I asked a Minnesotan how Duluth could be better than the Gophers, and he said that Minnesota gets most of the best players in the state but they all go pro before they get the skill/chemistry of other schools. Not sure how true that is.
