So could Caleb Grill transfer back and be immediately eligible even though he's already used one waiver? 40% serious question
I think so. And I'm sure he would.

Join the premium board and you would have seen it a month ago. With that sentiment, Chris said on the podcast that he was aware of what TJs staff could have been six years ago at ISU and it was very impressive.
I'll say this - I have nothing in particular against TJ but he's not a proven winner yet. If this report is true, then it entirely wreaks of nepotism. Him knowing ISU counts for something, but it shouldn't count against the other candidates. This isn't how things should actually work in the real life, and as someone who has interviewed and hired hundreds of people in the last handful of years - it's hard. It's hard not to be biased like this but you have to do it.
Imagine being someone like Craig Smith, who has gone 74-23 in 3 years at Utah State, and you don't get hired because a guy you've beaten "knows the school better."
I will want to know what's going on, but if JP just rushed for this - not only is it not good but I have lost a lot of respect for him as a human being for basically making a nepotism play.
How do you do worse than zero conference wins? You can’t.

Do you know what nepotism is? Did you know TJs career record against Smith is over .500.I'll say this - I have nothing in particular against TJ but he's not a proven winner yet. If he waited a week and still hired tj, it would look like a bunch of people turned the job down, so he had to do it now
No. No other like position in the country would hand a multi million dollar a year job to someone without a search and interview process of multiple candidates. Assistant middle school principal jobs are more rigorously considered if this timeline is trueIf he waited a week and still hired tj, it would look like a bunch of people turned the job down, so he had to do it now
They already know the answer either way....think they want to be on Jamie's bad side?So...couldn't CW just text him and ask to get a confirmation...then tell his employee (you) to confirm? ;-)
How many of those names would he be able to get now though?

Here's the thing, if he waited just a week, we could at least believe that we were trying to get a successful coach.
I assumed the "process" would have included coaching candidates of color? Especially in this day and age? That process is generally needed to determine that ability as measured against other options. Particularly when with a non-basketball guy like JP, proximity bias, and a weak resume candidate that just had a bad year.
This is about JP imo. It could workout, we’ll likely know by late April whether the haste was justified, but often the process is more indicative of the job done than the outcome. An option trader can get lucky with a naked position, but that doesn’t mean you want them running your shop.

I don't know much about the basketball. But its hard to envision that hiring a guy you passed over before, and who has had middling results since then, is a "slam dunk." Its also hard for a casual fan to get very excited about this.
Exactly - again if this is true and he rushed it then he's even dumber with the PR/optics than I ever imagined. He could have his coach lined up for a 3 weeks being a done deal, and he could still wait for 2 weeks to announce it so people, like this board and other media, don't say "wtf?"
