Have we talked about the possibility he comes back but with a new staff? Steve is liked by JP and the administration and some donors. He’d need to go above 0.500 in conference play and NCAA tournament or bust. He likely knows that’s not happening, but let’s give it a try.

If you were a good college basketball assistant coach able to make a significant difference in the performance of a Power 6 basketball team, would you take the job knowing Coach Prohm is facing an ultimatum?

Staff changes should have been made following the disappointing 2018-2019 season and our first round loss to Ohio State. It is too late now. Prohm's staff is what it is.

Why? He has already failed spectacularly. That’s his failure, not his assistants faults, and he isn’t going to magically learn how to coach this offseason.

I was shocked at the way the jackals came at me when I suggested his success at SDSU is hard to judge because of how dominant Daum was in a small conference. I didn't even dismiss it, just said it was hard to measure.

I thought I was posting a boring obvious post...I might as well have posted that Grayer couldn't dunk well.

I'll never understand how TJ has obtained such a mythical status among some fans.

He very well could be the best choice for the new coach. But it is hardly a slam dunk. And while his familiarity with Iowa State is a good thing, some act like it is THE MOST IMPORTANT thing. Matt Campbell didn't have some crazy knowledge about Iowa State football.

Thank you! A record of success and a team identity are the biggest attributes I look at.

I don’t get it. Maybe TJ’s top 2 cheerleaders Stormin and Urbandale2013 can help us understand. I would think it has to be Hoiberg connected, which would be incredibly short sighted.

While I don't dispute either point... I still think as far as point number two goes, you could insert ANY coach's name in that sentence. No matter what their prior record was anywhere else.

It's all a roll of the dice. That is my tidbit of wisdom. We're going to hire a coach, for better or worse (can't really be worse) but you get what I'm saying. There is nothing I can do about who we hire.

I have my personal favorite candidate, and it isn't TJ... BUT, no matter who we hire, he's our coach and I want us to win.

Why roll the dice when you can increase your odds by flipping a coin? Point is, we know a lot more about both Prohm and TJ. TJ is a dice roll bet and not a 50-50 bet

Because not a single other Big12 team would have him as a coaching candidate. Very doubtful he would be a candidate for any Big10 job either. He has no record of rebuilding things on his own, and he had the player of the year handed to him at his first job.

Can you even name the identity of his teams? You can't even compare him to Smith at Utah State.

How many Big 12 Teams are looking to replace their Coach this year? There are two. Kansas State and Iowa State. That is it. Lots of great Big 12 Coaches.

TJ inherited a good player at SDSU and won Championships. South Dakota State has remained good after his 3 years there. TJ is only 43 years old. I am willing to bet that he will be a P5 Head Coach someday. If not at Iowa State, then it will be somewhere else.

Bingo. But no coach is a slam dunk. Nobody.
