It’s different with basketball. One hopes you hire someone in the NCAA tournament and you don’t hire them until that’s over. I bet very few D1 jobs are filled until after the final four each year.
Of course, if you me pick is not in the tournament.....
Toledo basketball is in first place in their conference, may give that coach a look if Prohm is let go. The Toledo coach has ties to Minnesota and Wisconsin, been around, had a blue collar style that may fit well at Iowa State.

I’m adjusting my prediction if that’s allowed. Prohm will still be gone shortly after we lose to OU tomorrow, but not as quickly as some think..only because Jamie is occupied doing other grown up things for his job.
I know this name has been tossed around but Craig Smith from Utah State would be a more realistic hire than Altman. Smith is from Minnesota and is currently on his first year of a new 6 year $5.025M contract that started 4/1/2020. He’s only set to make $775,000 this year and $800,000 next year. His buyout is 25% of whatever’s left on his contract so I suppose if we/he waiting until after April first his buyout would go from $1,062,500 to $862,500. So boom, that’s my prediction. We hire Craig Smith the first week of April.

Honestly we should be happy if it takes a few weeks. That means it’s more likely we are going after a coach still playing.
This board will be a basket case on Thursday. It will happen.
