I would love a boot-out-of-end-zone guy.

As for comparisons to Assalley -- his FG range is limited, yes, but how often has he done kickoff duty? He isn't "the problem" in that area. (And his PAT% is not a downside).

I looked as far as the Bucknell game last year, where he went 4-4 on PAT’s, kicked a 44 yard FG, and averaged 41.3 yards per punt.

I’m sold!

in terms of kickoffs yes, isn’t Assalley an average kicker? He hasn’t been great but I wouldn’t consider him below average, just at first thought and without diving into the stats
You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take, and I feel like we don’t take many shots with Assalley unless they know he can make them (and then sometimes he still doesn’t).

Assalley doesn’t have a strong leg, but he has been solid during his career. Where we have struggled is to get touchbacks. Assalley doesn’t kick off. Many guys have tried, but it has been a consistent struggle. Now we have two strong legged kickers for next year. Hopefully one can fix the touchback issue.
